Approving and appointing a Bonding Warehouse.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by the Customs Law Act, 1908, I, the Minister of Customs, do hereby approve and appoint the undermentioned warehouse to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under bond, namely:—

Port of Lyttelton.

Part of a brick building roofed with iron, situate on Town Reserve No. 122, part of Sections 16 and 17, Eton Place, off Manchester Street South, City of Christchurch, to be known as the

EXPRESS COMPANY’S BOND.

Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of a Road in Blocks VIII and XII, Whangape Survey District, Hokianga County.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, under the authority of section 93 of the Public Works Act, 1908, that the road described in the Schedule hereto was duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 12th day of October, 1904.

Revoking Prohibition of Money-order and Postal Correspondence for David Ross, Wellington.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, being satisfied that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is no longer engaged in receiving money as the consideration for an assurance or agreement implied to pay money on events relating to horse-races, hereby rescinds the order made on the 27th day of May, 1912, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 30th day of May, 1912, forbidding that any money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that any postal packet addressed to the said person or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand, and orders that such money-orders shall be issued, and that such postal packets shall be registered, forwarded, and delivered, in the usual course.

  2. Applications must be forwarded through the head of the Department, addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

  3. Students of law or accountancy will receive preference.

  4. The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1913.

  5. Position will be graded in Class VII. Salary, £120; Clerical Division.

  3. Applicants must be not more than forty years of age.

  4. Applicants must have practical experience in (a) all branches of orchard and nursery work; (b) market gardening; (c) the propagation of plants of all descriptions.

  5. Salary, £150, with free house, &c. General Division.

  6. Appointment to be subject to the Public Service Act, 1912.

Notice to Mariners No. 115 of 1913.

PROPOSED LIGHT ON KARORI ROCK, COOK STRAIT.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 20th October, 1913.

NOTICE is hereby given that the New Zealand Government have authorized the building of a lighthouse on Karori Rock in Cook Strait, and the preliminaries in connection with building have been commenced. It is expected that the construction of the light will be completed and the light exhibited about June, 1914.

The light is to be an unwatched acetone flash light of 2,790 candle-power, at a height of 65 ft. above H.W. Flash ½ second, and eclipse 3½ seconds, and it should be visible for a distance of 14 miles.

Charts, &c., affected: Admiralty Charts Nos. 2054, 3629, and 1212; “New Zealand Pilot,” eight edition, 1908, Chapter v, page 150.
