Opening Lands in Wellington Land District for Sale or Selection.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the seventeenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

PAHIATUA COUNTY.—MANGAHAO SURVEY DISTRICT.—PART OF MANGATAINOKA BLOCK.

Situated in the Mangatainoka Block, about seven miles from Woodville, a mile and a half from Mangatainoka Railway-station, and four miles and a half from Pahiatua. Old bush land of first-class quality, suitable for dairy-farming. The section comprises easy spurs and flats, with about 42 acres unimproved, under fern and bush; the remainder is in grass; well watered. Elevation, about 250 ft. above sea-level.

The improvements included in the capital value consist of about 150 chains of fencing.

MASTERTON COUNTY.—MANGAONE SURVEY DISTRICT.

Weighted with £200 for buildings, to be paid for in cash, or in seven years by fourteen half-yearly payments of £17 5s. 8d., sinking fund and interest.

Situated to the south and east of the Mount Baker Block; fronts Barton's Line and Benton's Road, both of which are formed dray-roads, and is within a mile of Ihuraua school and post-office. Access is from Mangamahoe Railway-station, which is about ten miles distant by metalled and partly metalled dray-roads. Easy hilly grassed land, intersected by swampy valley. Soil of fair quality, on sandstone and papa formation; well watered.

The improvements included in the capital value of the land comprise felling, grassing, fencing, sheep-yards, sheep-dip, &c., valued at £914 10s. The improvements which are not included in the value of the land, but which must be paid for separately, comprise wool-shed, valued at £200.

Situated at the head of the Hikimutu Valley, the access being from Owhango, which is about three miles distant by a good dray-road. The section comprises rough ridges and gullies, with soil of good quality on a papa formation. The forest is light, with a few heavy trees, and comprises rimu, matai, rewarewa, mahoe, tawa, totara, &c., with heavy undergrowth. Elevation ranges from about 1,200 ft. to 1,450 ft. above sea-level.

The improvements, which are included in the capital value, and are valued at £63 5s. 10d., comprise about 30 acres felled, 25 acres of which have been grassed.

Altitude ranges from about 15 ft. to 50 ft. above sea-level. Flat and gently sloping land covered with manuka scrub, &c. Most of the land is at present rather wet, but can be easily drained; no permanent water. Situated from a mile to a mile and a half from Ocean Beach Railway-station by formed and metalled road.
