APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

UNDER THE MINING ACT, 1908.

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Pembroke.

PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1908, the undersigned, George Elliott, of Mount Barker, Farmer, hereby applies for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 5 a.m. on 23rd December, 1912.

Date and number of miner’s right: 3rd July, 1912; No. 80483.

Address for service: Care of A. M. Brodrick, Solicitor, Cromwell.

Dated at Cromwell this 22nd day of January, 1913.

Schedule.

Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Starting at a point on the east side of Cardrona River 20 chains above Pembroke Road, and terminating at Section 41, Block IV, Lower Wanaka, going through George Ballantyne’s freehold land, and crossing the Pembroke Road.

Length and intended course of race: One mile north-west to south-east.

Points of intake: East side Cardrona River.

Estimated time and cost of construction: Eight weeks; £30.

Mean depth and breadth: 1 ft. 6 in. deep; 2 ft. wide.

Number of heads to be diverted: Three heads.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Irrigation and watering stock.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.

EKETAHUNA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

SPECIAL ORDER CLOSING ROAD.

RESOLVED that, by virtue of the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and all other Acts, powers, and authorities enabling it in that behalf, the Council of the Borough of Ekatahuna do hereby make the following special order:—

That, by virtue of the provisions of sections 153 (4) (h) and 181 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, the Ekatahuna Borough Council do hereby stop that part of Masterton Road, on the plan of the Township of Ekatahuna, being a strip of land on the eastern side of the said Masterton Road, containing one rood and twenty-one decimal one perches, more or less, adjoining part of Section 12.

The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Ekatahuna was affixed hereunto in pursuance of a resolution of the said Council passed on the 27th day of January, 1913, in the presence of—

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us, the undersigned, DAVID PORTER WILSON and JAMES MULHOLLAND, in the business of Carters and General Contractors, carried on by us at Dunedin, has been dissolved by mutual consent as from the 1st day of January, 1913; and the business will henceforth be carried on by the said DAVID PORTER WILSON alone, who will pay and discharge all debts and liabilities from the said 1st day of January, 1913, and receive all moneys payable to the said late firm.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908; and of the taking under the said Act of certain lands within the County of Waikohu for the purposes hereinafter mentioned.

NOTICE is hereby given—The Chairman and Inhabitants of the County of Waikohu, for and on behalf of the Waikohu County Council, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, intend to take, by Proclamation, the following lands, viz.:—

All those pieces or parcels of land situate in the County of Waikohu, in the District of Poverty Bay, containing by admeasurement in the aggregate twenty-nine acres and twenty perches (29 a. 0 r. 20 p.), more or less, being parts of the lands known as the Waihora 1E Block, the Mangaorae 1P 1 Block, the Mangaorae 1P 2 Block, the Mangaorae 1P 3 Block, the Mangaorae 1R Block, the Mangaorae 1S Block, Mangaorae 2A 4 Block, the Mangaorae 2A 6 Block, the Ahirau 2E 1 Block, the Ahirau 2E 2 Block, the Ahirau 2E 3 Block, the Ahirau 2E 4 Block, the Ahirau 2E 5 Block, the Papakorokoro 2C Block, the Papakorokoro 2B Block, and the Papakorokoro 2A 3 Block.

A plan of the said lands required to be taken is deposited at the office of the Waikohu County Council, where the same may be inspected at all reasonable hours.

The work proposed to be executed on the said lands is a public road giving access to the contiguous lands, and the description of the lands to be taken is as shown on the said plan.

All persons affected having any objections to the execution of such work or the taking of such lands are hereby required to send such objections in writing to the Waikohu County Council on or before the 24th day of March, 1913.

NOTICE OF CHANGE OF SURNAME.

I, EDGAR WILLIAM PALMER, of Herne Bay, near the City of Auckland, in the Dominion of New Zealand, Salesman, do hereby give notice that I have assumed, and intend henceforth upon all occasions and at all times to sign and use, be called, and known by the surname of “DEVEREUX” only, in lieu of and substitution for my present surname of “PALMER.” And I further give notice that such intended change or assumption of name is formally declared and evidenced by deed-poll under my hand and seal, dated this day, and intended to be enrolled in the Supreme Court Office at Auckland, in the Dominion of New Zealand. And, further, I hereby declare that this notice is given on behalf of myself, my children, and other my descendants.

In testimony whereof I do hereby sign and subscribe myself by my present and by such my intended future name.
