TO THE
NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE
OF

Published by Authority.
WELLINGTON, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20, 1913.
Provisional Classification of the Public Service under the Public Service Act, 1912.
THIS provisional classification of officers of the Public Service (except the Post and Telegraph Department) is published for general information. The classification is effective as from the 1st April, 1913, with the exception that cadets and a small number of junior clerks, whose salaries have been adjusted to enable them to fall in with the regular step on the 1st April, 1914, will not be regarded as finally classified until that date. The list is not a seniority list; the numbers shown on each page are for facility of reference only. A seniority list will be issued later.
The column “Maximum for Position” is intended to show the maximum value the position will attain before any future reclassification of the Service. In cases where the maximum for the position is in a higher class than the salary allotted for the current year it is to be understood that the position is classified in two classes. The maximum for the position of General Division officers will be found under the heading “Scale for General Division,” at end of list.
The salaries of officers in the Administrative Division are not shown herein, as under section 19 of the Act they are subject to parliamentary authority only.
Where any salary higher than £700 is shown in the Professional Division, this is to be regarded as subject to the provisions of section 20, subsection (3), of the Act.
Any officer dissatisfied with his classification as shown herein may forward to the Commissioner, within thirty days of the 20th August, 1913, a notice of appeal setting forth the grounds of his dissatisfaction, for consideration by the Board of Appeal. The attention of officers is directed to section 31 of the Act.
As it is desired that there may be as little delay as possible in the publication of the final classification, it is requested that officers desiring to appeal shall forward the appeals as early as possible. The Board of Appeal will commence its sittings about the 29th instant.
Officers are desired to call immediate attention to any error, however slight, in name, length of service, or other particulars.
Wellington, 20th August, 1913.
D. ROBERTSON,
Public Service Commissioner.
