Description of Portion of Reserve the Purpose of which it is
intended to change.

All that area in the Hawke's Bay Land District, contain-
ing by admeasurement 20·2 perches, more or less, being part
Lot 3 of Section 214, Town of Porangahau. Bounded to-
wards the north-east by Lot 2 of said Section 214, a distance
of 100 links; towards the south-east by Abercromby Street,
a distance of 126·29 links; towards the south-west by a
public road, a distance of 100 links; and towards the north-
west by other portion of Lot 3 of Section 214 aforesaid, a
distance of 126·29 links, to the starting-point: be all the
aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated
on the plan marked L. and S. 1912/338B, deposited in the
Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Welling-
ton, and thereon coloured red.

Intended Purpose.

For police purposes.

Notifying Lands in Wellington Land District for Sale by
Public Auction.


LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the one-hundred-and-twenty-sixth section
of the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile,
Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the thirtieth day
of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, as
the time at which the lands described in the Schedule
hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby
fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as
those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

Situated on the left bank of the Mangahao River, close to
the Town of Ballance. The access is from Pahiatua, which
is about six miles distant by metalled road, and from the main
road to the section by formed road. Flat, river-bank land,
subject to flood. All the bush has been felled and the land
grassed. Alluvial soil of good quality, on shingle and papa
formation.

Situated on the right-hand bank of the Mangahao River,
near the Town of Ballance. The access is from Pahiatua,
about seven miles distant, by metalled road; from the main
road the access is by partly formed road to river-bank, thence
by ford to the section. Flat, river-bank land, subject to
flood; mostly cleared; in grass. Alluvial soil of good
quality, on shingle and papa formation,

Opening Lands in Wellington Land District for Sale or
Selection.


LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities con-
ferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William
de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, having received the report of the
Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one
hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare
that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open
for sale or selection on Thursday, the twenty-seventh day of
March, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen; and also
that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at
the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be
selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renew-
able lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the
said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in
the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands
shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the
provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

  • Weighted with £48 10s., valuation for improvements consisting of fencing.

Situated in the Piripiri Block, with frontages to the Apiti–
Norsewood Road, which is unformed through the block.
The nearest school and creamery are at Umutoi, about four
miles distant. The access is from Ashhurst or Apiti, which
are distant about twenty-two miles and fifteen miles respec-
tively by metalled roads for the greater part of the way.
Section 27 comprises undulating and rough and broken
country, intersected by deep gorges and ravines; the other
lots are easy undulating and hilly land, intersected by gorges.
Soil is generally fair, but is inferior and stony in places, on
sandstone and papa formation. The forest comprises ta-
whero, manuka, rimu, miro, rata, &c., with usual under-
growth; well watered. Elevation ranges from about 1,400 ft.
to 3,200 ft. above sea-level.
