NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CARRY ON BUSINESS.
N OTICE is hereby given that the British Crown Assurance Corporation (Limited) proposes to commence business in New Zealand, and that legal process of any kind may be served upon it and notice of any kind may be addressed or delivered at the office of the corporation situated at No. 115 Lower Rattray Street, Dunedin.

N OTICE is hereby given,—
- That at a duly convened extraordinary general meeting of the Bendigo Gold-mining Company (Limited) held at the office of the company at Hobson Buildings, Fort Street, in the City of Auckland, on Thursday, the 10th day of April, 1913, the company passed a special resolution requiring the company to be wound up voluntarily.
- That at a subsequent duly convened extraordinary general meeting of the said company held at the said office of the company on Tuesday, the 6th day of May, 1913, the above special resolution was confirmed by the said company; and Mr. C. A. STUBBS was appointed Liquidator for the purpose of winding up the affairs of the company and distributing its assets.

AWHITU ROAD BOARD.
N OTICE is hereby given that it is proposed by the Awhitu Road Board, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute certain public works, to wit, to take land for the construction of roads; and for the purpose of such public works the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that copies of the plans of the said roads and of the lands required to be taken are open for inspection at the residence of Henry Garland, Clerk to the Board. All persons affected by the taking of such lands are invited to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public works, and to send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Clerk of the Awhitu Road Board.

BOROUGH OF BIRKENHEAD.
RESOLUTION STRIKING SPECIAL RATE re TEN-PER-CENT LOAN OF £2,488.
I N pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and amendments, the Birkenhead Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of two thousand four hundred and eighty-eight pounds (£2,488), authorized to be raised by the Birkenhead Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of completing the work of providing a water-supply for the borough, and also concluding the loan works on the main roads of the borough, the said Birkenhead Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one penny three-farthings (1¾d.) in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Borough of Birkenhead, comprising Blocks 1, 2, 3, 57 to 67, Sections 1, 2, 5, 7 to 13, of Block 121, 128 to 164, and 227 to 230, all inclusive, of Blocks VII, XI, and XII, Waitemata District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above is a true copy of a resolution passed by the Birkenhead Borough Council at a meeting held on the 22nd day of May, 1913.
