Opening Land in Taranaki Land District for Sale or Selection.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Tuesday, the twenty-seventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Situated at the junction of the Upper Ohura and Tapui-wahine Roads, about eight miles distant from Ongarue Railway-station—by coach-road four miles and pack-track four miles. The land comprises easy to steep slopes, rising from 950 ft. to 1,800 ft., covered with heavy bush of tawa, rimu, rata, tawhero, hinau, &c. The soil is good, on papa formation; well watered.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen.

Situated on the Tahunaroa Road, Section 8 being one mile from the Wanganui River, where there is a landing-stage and cargo-shed. Access from the Town of Whangamomona, from twelve miles and a half to fifteen miles distant—by dray-road for six miles, three miles partly dray-road and partly bridle-track, and bridle-track remaining distance. The land comprises broken and undulating country, with steep sidlings. There is a homestead site on Section 5 in the north-eastern corner near the road, and on Section 8 in the north-western corner near road there is a small tableland with homestead site. The sections are covered with heavy bush of tawa, tawhero, rata, rimu, &c., and a dense undergrowth of mahoe, kotukutuku, karamu, raurekau, hoho, ponga, supplejack, kiekie, &c. On Section 8 near road in the north-eastern corner there are the remains of a small burn, with some towhai growing thereon. The soil is of good quality, on papa formation, and the sections are well watered.

Situated on the Whangamomona River at the junction of the Tahunaroa and Round Hill Roads. Access is from Whangamomona, twelve miles distant, six miles being dray-road, the next three partly dray and partly bridle road, and the remaining three miles bridle-road. The section comprises undulating country, with a few flats along the Whangamomona River, and a good flat in the north-eastern corner. The major part of the section is covered with heavy bush of tawa, rimu, tawhero, rata, &c., and a dense undergrowth of makomako, mahoe, raurekau, karamu, ponga, &c; there is some kahikatea, rimu, and miro on a flat between Round Hill Road and the River. The soil is of very good quality, resting on a papa formation; well watered.

Situated on the Whangamomona River and Road and the Round Hill Road. Access is from Whangamomona, from fourteen miles to seventeen miles and a half distant—by dray-road for six miles, the next three miles being partly dray and partly bridle road, and six miles bridle-track, the remaining distance being surveyed road. The sections comprise broken and undulating country, with flats along the Whangamomona River. The southern portion of Section 6, and the south-western portion of Section 1, and nearly the whole of Section 9 was burnt many years ago, and is now covered with a heavy second growth of young tawhero, mahoe, ko-nini, hoho, raurekau, karamu, &c.; the remaining portions of the sections are covered with a heavy forest of tawa, rimu, tawhero, rata, &c., and a dense undergrowth of makomako, mahoe, raurekau, karamu, ponga, &c. The soil is of good quality, on a papa formation, and the sections are well watered.

Situated on the Round Hill Road and the Whangamomona Road and River, about a mile from the Wanganui River. Access is from Whangamomona, about twenty miles distant, the first six miles being dray-road, the next three miles partly dray and partly bridle road, the next six miles bridle-track, and the balance unformed road. The land comprises very broken country, with a gorgy creek running through the centre. The section is covered with heavy bush of tawa, rimu, tawhero, rata, towhai, &c., and a dense undergrowth of mahoe, kotukutuku, raurekau, karamu, mamaku, hoho, ponga, supplejack, kiekie, &c. The soil is of good quality, on papa formation; well watered.
