Teachers’ Certificate Examinations, 1913.

Education Department,
Wellington, 25th February, 1913.

THE following lists contain statements of the principal results of the examinations held in January for the purposes of teachers’ certificates. In the preparation of the lists consideration has been given to candidates’ successes at previous examinations held by the Department and at University examinations of which notice has been received. The effect of the amended regulations of 1912, where the status of candidates is thus improved, has also been taken into account.

The first list (I) contains the names of the successful candidates for Classes A, B, C, and D. Teachers’ certificates will be issued to such of these as have produced satisfactory evidence of age and good character, and have passed the special medical examination required, and have fulfilled the necessary conditions as to length of service and efficiency in teaching. The list does not include the names of those who qualified for a certificate as training-college students independently of this examination.

The second list (II) gives the names of those who have yet to pass in one or two subjects to complete the examination (“Partial Pass”), and in the case of Class D candidates of those who have passed in the First Section of Class D.

Those candidates who, though not entitled to be placed in the second list, are entitled to some other record of success under the regulations are placed in the third list (III).

In the fourth list (IV) are given the names of the candidates whose work has been deemed worthy of “Special Mention.”

The next examination will take place in January, 1914, beginning about the 6th day of the month. Notice must be sent to the Inspector-General of Schools, so as to reach him not later than the 15th October. Candidates who have yet to complete the examination must observe this rule equally with other candidates, and must not expect to receive any further information of the date at which the notices become due.

Certificated teachers that have gained promotion at this examination may send their certificates to the Department for indorsement.

G. HOGBEN,
Inspector-General of Schools.
