Dividing City of Dunedin into Wards and fixing Representation.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Borough of Roslyn and the City of Dunedin were, by Proclamation dated the thirtieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, declared to be a united borough by the name of the City of Dunedin: And whereas it is desired that the said city be divided into wards:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, do hereby divide the said City of Dunedin into five wards, with the names and boundaries set forth in the Schedule hereto; and do hereby proclaim and declare that at the general election of Councillors to be held on the last Wednesday in April, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, and at subsequent general elections, five members shall be elected for the Caversham Ward, three members for the Central Ward, five members for the Leith Ward, two members for the Valley Ward, and two members for the Roslyn Ward.

SCHEDULE.

CAVERSHAM WARD.

All that area in the City of Dunedin bounded towards the north-west generally by the Borough of Mornington as described in the First Schedule to the Borough of Mornington Boundaries Act, 1886, from its south-west corner to where the main South Road intersects the Dunedin Town Belt, by that boundary to Park Street, and thence across and along the southern side of Park Street and its production to the boundary of the City of Dunedin as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 81, of the 31st October, 1912, page 3121; thence towards the north-east generally and towards the south-east by the north-eastern and south-eastern boundary-lines of the said city to the Borough of St. Kilda; thence again towards the south-east generally by that borough and its south-western boundary produced to the ocean, and by the ocean to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section No. 32, Ocean Beach Survey District; and thence towards the south-west by the boundary of the City of Dunedin as described in the Gazette aforesaid to the place of commencement.

CENTRAL WARD.

All that area in the City of Dunedin bounded towards the north-east by a line (commencing at a point on the north-west boundary of the Town Belt) in line with the middle of Rattray Street, and produced to the intersection of that street with the middle of York Place; thence along the middle of York Place and Stuart Street and its production to the boundary of the City of Dunedin as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 81, of the 31st October, 1912, page 3121; thence towards the south-east by that boundary and the Caversham Ward hereinbefore described to the middle of the main South Road; thence towards the south-west by the Borough of Mornington as described in the First Schedule of the Borough of Mornington Boundaries Act, 1886; and thence towards the north-west by the said borough to the south-east corner of Section No. 87, Block VI, Town Survey District, and thence by that block and Block IV, Upper Kaikorai Survey District, to the place of commencement.

LEITH WARD.

All that area in the City of Dunedin bounded towards the north-east by Pine Hill Terrace from the Borough of Maori Hill to Section No. 51, Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District; thence towards the south-east by that section and by the south-eastern boundary of the City of Dunedin as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 81, of the 31st October, 1912, page 3121, to the Central Ward hereinbefore described; thence towards the south-west by that

ERRATA.—In the Proclamation taking land for the purposes of a public school in Block XV, Drury Survey District, published in Gazette No. 6, page 320, of the 30th January, 1913, for “Auckland Education Board” read “The Education Board of the District of Auckland.”

In the second column of the Schedule to the Proclamation laying out and taking a road in Block II, Wairoa Survey District, Manukau County, published in Gazette No. 6, page 322, of the 30th January, 1913, for “Waiomara” read “Waiomaru.”
