Counties Act, 1908, brought into force in Awakino County.—Arrangements for First Elections, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Counties Act, 1908, and in pursuance of a resolution passed in this behalf by both Houses of the General Assembly, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Counties Act, 1908, shall come into force in Awakino County on the fourteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen; and, in exercise of the like powers and authorities, I do hereby divide the said county into three ridings, to be called the North Riding, the Central Riding, and the South Riding respectively; and do hereby declare that the boundaries of such ridings shall be those set forth under the respective names of the said ridings in the Schedule hereto.
And I do hereby further declare that the number of members to be elected for each of the said ridings shall be two; and that Monday, the tenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, shall be the day on which the election of the first Council of the said County of Awakino shall take place; and that Saturday, the twenty-second day of March, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, at two o’clock in the afternoon, shall be the time, and the Farmers’ Club, at Awakino, shall be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Council shall be held.

SCHEDULE.
AWAKINO COUNTY.
North Riding.
All that area in Awakino County bounded towards the north generally by Kawhia County from the sea to Waitomo County; thence towards the east generally by Waitomo County to the northern boundary of Puketiti No. 1 Block; thence towards the south generally by the said Puketiti No. 1 Block to the Awakino River; thence across that river, and by the Upper Awakino Valley Road, and the road forming the southern boundaries of Section No. 5, Block IX, Maungamangero Survey District, and Sections Nos. 4 and 5, Block VIII, Whareorino Survey District, to the Waikawau Road; thence by the last-mentioned road to the scenic reserve in Block VIII aforesaid; thence by the said scenic reserve and Sections Nos. 3, 2, and 1, Block VII, Whareorino Survey District, and the northern boundary of the last-mentioned section produced to the sea; and thence towards the west generally by the sea to the place of commencement.
Central Riding.
All that area in Awakino County bounded towards the north generally by North Riding, hereinbefore described, from the sea to Waitomo County; thence by Waitomo County to the Mangaotaki River; thence towards the east generally by the Mangaotaki River to its confluence with the Mokau River; thence by the Mokau River to the Waipotipoti Stream; thence towards the south by the Waipotipoti Stream to the south-eastern boundary of Mahoinui No. 2 Block; thence by the south-eastern boundary of that block to grant to J. Houston; thence by the said grant to J. Houston to the Awakino River; thence by the Awakino River to the south-western corner of Section No. 4, Block V, Awakino East Survey District; thence by Section No. 1, Block IX, Awakino North Survey District, and Sections Nos. 3 and 1, Block VI, and the production of the northern boundary of the last-mentioned section to the Manganui River; thence by the Manganui River to a point opposite the north-eastern corner of Small Grazing-run No. 2A; thence by a right line to that corner, and by the said small grazing-run to the sea; and towards the west by the sea to the place of commencement.
South Riding.
All that area in Awakino County bounded towards the north by Central Riding, hereinbefore described, from the sea to the Mokau River; thence towards the east and
