  1. Holidays.

(a.) Irrespective of the hours worked on any day, double-time rates shall be paid for work done on Sundays, Good Friday, Christmas Day, and Labour Day. For time worked on New Year’s Day, Easter Monday, reigning sovereign’s birthday, and Boxing Day time and a half shall be paid.

  1. Notice of Leaving or Dismissal.

In case of the dismissal (except for misconduct) of any worker or of any worker leaving of his own accord, not less than two hours’ notice shall be given on either side. Any moneys due at such time shall be paid within twenty-four hours after the time of any such worker leaving his employer’s service.

  1. Tools.

(a.) Employers shall provide journeymen with soldering-bolts, pipe-fitting tools, metal-pots, plumbing-irons, mandrels, files, and springs. Journeymen to find all other tools required for their work, including pipe-tongs up to 1 in. pipes. Soldering-bolts to be returned in good condition, reasonable wear-and-tear excepted, or to be paid for by the employee.

(b.) The employer shall provide all tinsmiths and sheet-metal workers with all tools required. Such tools to remain the property of the employer, and shall not be taken off the premises except with the permission of the employer.

(c.) When a worker leaves the work he shall return his tools in good order, allowing for ordinary wear-and-tear. In the event of his failing to do so he shall pay his employer the value of such tools.

(d.) Where work is being done elsewhere than at the place of an employer, he shall provide, when necessary, upon the premises where the work is to be done, a properly secured place for the tools of the employer and employee.

  1. Suburban Work.

(a.) “Suburban work” means work performed by a worker at a distance of over two miles from his employer’s place of business, but which does not come within the definition of country work.

(b.) Workers shall be at their employer’s place of business at the hour appointed for the commencement of work, but if previously required to do so they shall proceed direct to the place where the work is to be performed, and be there at the time appointed for the commencement of work. And if the distance required to be travelled in order to reach the place be more than two miles from his employer’s place of business, they shall be paid at the ordinary rate of wages for the time occupied in proceeding to the work for the excess of such distance, reckoning the time taken at the rate of three miles an hour.

(c.) Any worker employed upon suburban work to reach which a conveyance is required shall be conveyed to and from such work, or his fares paid to and from such work, and he shall also be paid at the ordinary rate for his time while going to such work.

  1. Country Work.

(a.) “Country work” means work performed by a worker which necessitates his lodging elsewhere than at his usual place of residence.

(b.) A worker employed upon country work shall be conveyed by his employer to and from such work free of charge, or his travelling-expenses paid by the employer going to and returning from such work, but once only during the continuance of the work if the work is continuous and the worker is not recalled by his employer.

(c.) Workers while working at country work shall be paid an additional sum of 3s. per day for six days in the week, but the employer may in lieu thereof provide such workers free of charge suitable board and lodging while so employed.

(d.) Time occupied in travelling shall be paid for at ordinary rates, but no more than an ordinary day’s wage shall be paid for any day occupied in travelling, though the hours occupied may exceed eight, unless the journeyman is on the same day engaged in working for his employer.

(e.) An employer may agree with a worker employed on country work that such worker shall work at ordinary rates in excess of the hours prescribed by clause 2 hereof, provided that the hours so worked in excess shall not exceed three in any one day.
