Lands temporarily reserved in the Nelson Land District.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Nelson Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 546 acres, more or less, being Section 8, Block XII, Burnett Survey District. Bounded towards the east generally by the summit of the spur leading from Sub-trig. 1 to the northernmost corner of Section 9 of the before-mentioned Block XII, towards the south-east generally by the last-mentioned section, towards the south-west generally by the road along the right bank of the Rappahannock River to a point thereon in line with traverse pegs VII and LI, and towards the west and north-west generally by the summit of the spur leading to Sub-trig. 1 before mentioned; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 1912/283A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For an endowment for primary education.

All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being Section 21, Block XII, Burnett Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the road along the left bank of the Rappahannock River; and towards the north-east, south-east, and south-west by Section 7, Block XII, Burnett Survey District: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 1912/283B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For gravel purposes.

All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, being Section 22, Block XII, Burnett Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Section 7 of the said Block XII, towards the north-east and south-east generally by the road along the left bank of the Rappahannock River, and towards the south-west by the road intersecting the before-mentioned Section 7; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 1912/283C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For a site for a public school.

All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being Section 23, Block XVI, Burnett Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the road intersecting Section 19, Block XVI of the said survey district; and towards the north-east, south-east, and south-west by the before-mentioned Section 19: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 1912/283D, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For gravel purposes.

Trustee for the Springston Public Cemetery appointed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the fourth section of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

JOSEPH WATSON KIME

to be a Trustee, in the place of George Trott, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Springston Public Cemetery, in conjunction with Henry Pannett,

Richard Morrish, George Rennie, Henry Neale, George McBean, and Henry Watson Kime, previously appointed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this seventeenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twelve.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the fourth section of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

THOMAS BUCKINGHAM and PETER SHAW

to be Trustees, in the place of Andrew Blaikie and John Cooper Shearer, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Calcium Public Cemetery, in conjunction with Peter Colin Campbell McLeish, William Benzie, William Stewart, Charles McKinnon, and David Teviot-dale, previously appointed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this seventeenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twelve.

Powers delegated to the Papatowai Scenic Board under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the Schedule below (being land reserved under the said Act), for the period of three years from the date hereof (unless previously altered or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons, namely,

JOHN FADDIS,
FREDERICK GILBERT,
WILLIAM MARTIN,
HERBERT OLLERENSHAW, and WILLIAM WILSON,

all of Papatowai, and JOHN PETERSON, of Kahuika (herein referred to as 'the Board'), in trust for the preservation of scenery, and subject to the conditions and regulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,

MEETINGS.

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business at Papatowai, on the first Monday of each month, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held during the month of June, one thousand nine hundred and twelve.

  2. The members of the Board shall from time to time elect one of their number to be Chairman of the Board.

  3. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days' notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  4. Any four members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  5. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister in Charge of Scenery Preservation as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

  6. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be chairman of such meeting.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

  8. The Board shall not lease any portion of the reserve, or permit any grazing thereon, without the permission of
