Extract from Specification.—According to my invention, I employ a thin plate, preferably of spring steel, which is interposed between the fork and the cutter, and has holes to receive the fork-pins. The plate lies flush with the ends of the outer prongs of the fork, and the fork-pins project through the plate sufficiently to engage and operate the cutter.

No. 31091.—1st September, 1911.†—JAMES MACMEIKAN, of No. 509 Collins Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Merchant. Improvements in means for delivering air through the ceilings of cooling or defrosting chambers.
Claim.—(1.) In a tubular hanging-device for suspending bodies or substances to be preserved or defrosted in the chamber in which same are to be treated, and comprising a portion situated within a ceiling compartment to which the medium for treating said bodies or substances is supplied, said portion being normally held by a spring against the top wall of said compartment so as to close the bore of said tube, while the lower end of the tube projects into said chamber and is provided with means for suspending the bodies or substances therefrom, providing the upper end of the tube with lateral openings to permit of the preserving or defrosting medium passing into the treating-chamber when the upper end of the bore of the tube is closed, substantially as specified.

Claims.—(1.) An internal-combustion pump without a flywheel which raises or forces liquid by the energy of expansion of an ignited combustible mixture compressed before ignition, wherein a solid mass or linked masses capable of acquiring the necessary momentum reciprocate freely without control otherwise than by work done or energy stored, or both, at each stroke, and so that the momentum acquired enables the respective strokes to be carried through to their proper limits and the cycle to occupy the desired period, substantially as described. . . . (14.) Apparatus according to any of the preceding claims in which an elastic cushion or cushions are used for storing energy wherein such cushion or cushions are contained wholly or partly in the power unit or units, in the cylinder or cylinders for pumping elastic fluid or fluids, in the raising or forcing unit or units, or in a separate cylinder or cylinders for the purpose, or in any combination of these, substantially as described.

Claim.—(1.) The described method of applying stucco to a wall which consists in the application of a coat of cement-paint to the wall, casting stucco material thereon, marking off the said material to simulate joints by raking out the material thereof, and later applying the cement mixture to the said joints.

Claim.—(1.) For the purpose indicated, a cord attached to the upper part of the sash and leading to a balance-weight,
said cord leading from the balance-weight and passing round a pulley and leading to the lower part of the sash, another cord fixed to the top of the said balance-weight and passing around pulleys, said cord leading downwards upon the outside of the window-frame and around pulleys to the bottom end of said balance-weight, substantially as set forth.
