the powers conferred by section one hundred and twenty-one of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and section seven of the Local Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act, 1910, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the said poll shall be and be deemed to have been as good, valid, and effectual as if the voting-papers used at such poll had been in the form given in the Second Schedule to the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and that the proceedings relative to such loan of five thousand pounds shall not be called into question by reason only of the irregularity aforesaid.

Opening Lands in Southland Land District for Sale or Selection.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder, Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twelve; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Weighted with £28 4s., valuation for improvements consisting of 13 acres clearing and grassing and fencing.
All fairly light land on shingle; swampy in parts; about 13 acres have been cleared and are in grass, the balance being fairly heavily timbered, principally white-pine.

Sections 21A and 22 are covered with mixed bush, all the milling-timber having been removed. The land is flat, and is very good, deep, loamy soil. The sections are well situated on the main Clifden—Papatotara Road, and situated about a mile and a half from Tuatapere Railway-station.

Opening Settlement Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-fourth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

Altitude, from 200 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land, covered with light manuka; light sandy soil of inferior quality; no water on section. Situated about three miles from Tirau Railway-station by good metalled road, or about four miles from Putaruru by good road.
Otamatea County.—Matakohe Survey District.—Bickerstaffe Settlement.

Altitude, 15 ft. to 80 ft. above sea-level. Level to undulating land; about three-fourths of Section 14 is in grass; balance of section, also Section 13, manuka scrub: heavy black soil, inferior to medium in quality, on limestone formation; water can be obtained by sinking. Situated on Ford Road, about five miles from Whakapirau by good cart-road. The sections are fenced all round external boundaries.

Mixed agricultural and pastoral land, at an altitude of 700 ft. to 1,400 ft. above sea-level; at present in its natural state, with heavy covering of red and white tussock. Probably about one-third could be profitably broken up, the balance being first-rate natural pasture. There is a good homestead-site and good water on Section 47A. Access by formed road from Pukerau, two miles and a quarter, and from Arthurton, three miles, at each of which places are a post-office, railway-station, and school. The improvements (which are included in the capital value of the land) consist of 205 chains of boundary-fencing and one gate, of a total value of £28 19s.
