A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a borough under the said Act on and from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twelve; that the name of such borough shall be the Borough of Runanga, that the said borough shall be an undivided borough, and that the number of Councillors to be elected thereto shall be six; exclusive of the Mayor :
And I do further proclaim and declare that George Rich Wylde, of Runanga, shall be the Returning Officer to conduct the first election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough; and that the said George Rich Wylde shall be the Town Clerk and the person to prepare the district electors roll for the purposes of the said first election :
And, lastly, I do proclaim and declare that the first election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough shall be held on Saturday, the fourth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, and that the first meeting of the Council of the said borough shall be held on Saturday, the eleventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, at seven o’clock in the afternoon, at the Miners’ Hall, Runanga.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Westland District bounded towards the north generally by the left bank of Seven-mile Creek from a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section No. 4, Block III, Cobden Survey District, to a point bearing 25° from Trig. Station A; thence towards the south-east by a right line through Trig. Station A to the right bank of Coal Creek, and thence by the right bank of Coal Creek to a point in line with the western boundary of Section No. 224, Block III aforesaid; thence towards the west generally by a right line to the south-western corner of the said Section No. 224; thence by the western boundary of that section and the eastern side of the Cobden—Seven-mile Road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section No. 9, Block II, Cobden Survey District; thence across the said road to the north-eastern corner of Section No. 9 aforesaid, and by the northern boundary of that section for a distance of 608 links; thence by a line bearing 14° 49′, distance 1995 links, along the western side of a public road to the southern boundary of Section No. 11, Block II aforesaid; thence by the southern boundary of the said Section No. 11 and that boundary produced across the Cobden—Seven-mile Road; thence by the eastern side of that road to the north-western boundary of Section No. 4, Block III aforesaid; and thence towards the north-west by the north-western boundary of the said Section No. 4 and that boundary produced to the left bank of Seven-mile Creek, the place of commencement.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twelve.
