NOTE.—For purposes of comparison divorced persons have been included among the unmarried. The number returned as “divorced” in 1911 was 986 persons (575 males, 411 females).

TABLE II.—Showing (exclusive of Maoris and Chinese) the Number of Unmarried Males under and over 20, and Females under and over 15 Years of Age; the Number of Husbands and Wives, Widowers and Widows, of all Specified Ages, with the Percentages of the Unmarried, Married, and Widowed to the Living Population, according to the Census of 2nd April, 1911.
