New County of Ashley divided into Ridings, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Counties Act, 1908, and the Ashley Subdivision and the Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply Board Act, 1911, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby divide the new County of Ashley, as constituted by the said Acts, into two ridings, to be called the Mount Thomas Riding and the Loburn-Whiterock Riding, and declare that the boundaries thereof shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto :
And I do hereby declare that three members shall be elected for the Mount Thomas Riding, and four members for the Loburn-Whiterock Riding. And I do further declare that Thursday, the fourth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, shall be the day upon which the election of the first Council of the said County of Ashley shall take place, and Wednesday, the tenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, at ten oโclock in the forenoon, shall be the time, and the Ashley Road Board Office, Loburn South, shall be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Council shall be held.
SCHEDULE.
MOUNT THOMAS RIDING.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded towards the north-east by the north-eastern boundary of the Ashley County as described in the Fifth Schedule of the Ashley Subdivision and the Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply Board Act, 1911, from Block Hill to the middle of the Okuku River; thence towards the east generally by the middle of that river to its confluence with the River Ashley, and by a right line thence due south to the right bank of the said River Ashley; and thence towards the south-west, west, and north-west by the south-western, western, and north-western boundaries of the said Ashley County to the place of commencement.
LOBURN-WHITEROCK RIDING.
All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded towards the north-east, east, and south by the north-eastern, eastern, and southern boundaries of the Ashley County as described in the Fifth Schedule of the Ashley Subdivision and the Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply Board Act, 1911, from a point in the middle of the Okuku River to the Mount Thomas Riding hereinbefore described; and thence towards the south-west generally by the said Mount Thomas Riding to the place of commencement.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majestyโs Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twelve.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint
JAMES REEVE WILKINSON,
of Loburn, to be the person to make up electors roll for all ridings in the County of Ashley as constituted by the Counties Act, 1908, and the Ashley Subdivision and the Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply Board Act, 1911; also to be the Returning Officer to conduct the first election of members of the Council of the said county, and to be the Clerk of the Council of the said county for the purpose of presiding at the first meeting thereof.
