if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of the district in which he resides.
The ballot for the section, if there is more than one applicant, will be held at the District Lands Office, Auckland, at 2.30 o’clock p.m. on Thursday, the 25th day of April, 1912, at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.
Preference will be given to landless applicants, and the decision of the Land Board as to which of the applicants are landless shall be final and conclusive.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands will be offered for lease by public auction for a term of twenty-one years, with perpetual right of renewal for further successive terms of twenty-one years, at the District Lands Office, Nelson, at 11 o’clock a.m., on Wednesday, the 8th day of May, 1912, under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, and amendments.

Murchison County.—Maruia Survey District.
Varies from flat to undulating. The land is of good quality, covered with light bush, principally birch, and is well suited for pastoral purposes. Altitude, from 600 ft. to 1,300 ft. Is well watered. Access from Murchison by a good dray-road, a distance of about eighteen miles, which will be considerably decreased when the Doughboy Creek Road is completed.
Waimea County.—Gordon Survey District.

This section has a frontage to the main road leading from Belgrave to Kohatu, and is about three miles distant from the first-mentioned place. The Nelson–Tadmor Railway line runs along part of the section’s southern boundary. All the section is steep hillside, and covered with fern and manuka, the soil being of poor quality.
Murchison County.—Matiri Survey District.

All covered with light bush, principally birch of no commercial value. The land is of fair quality, and varies from flat to undulating and steep; well suited for pastoral purposes. Distant about three miles and a half by formed dray-road up Two-mile Creek and Maggie’s Creek from the main Nelson–Westport Road near Owen Junction.

All flat land of good quality, and well suited for agricultural and pastoral purposes; the bush has all been felled, and the land sown in grass. Access by a formed dray-road up the Owen Valley, and distant about a mile and three-quarters from the main Nelson–Westport Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders will be received at this office up to 4 p.m. on Friday, the 12th April, 1912, for a lease of the Post and Telegraph Reserve at Whitianga, known as Lot 32, Whakau Block (Block X, Otama Survey District), containing 1 rood, subject to the following terms and conditions :—

Term of lease, five years, without any right of renewal or compensation for improvements. Minimum annual rental, £12.

One-half year’s rent at the rate tendered, together with £1 1s. lease fee, to accompany the tender.

Immediate possession will be given.

Rent payable half-yearly, in advance, on the 1st January and 1st July in each year, free from all deductions whatsoever.

The lessee shall not sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of his interest in the lease without the consent in writing of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland.

The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee shall fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within thirty days after the date on which the same ought to be fulfilled.

Tenders to be indorsed “Lease of Reserve, Whitianga,” and to be addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland.

The lease to be held generally in terms of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908.
