Second-class Unsurveyed Land.

District. Blocks. Area. Rent per Acre per Annum.

The western end of the block (Section 19) has frontage to the Tauranga Road (which is formed and metalled), and is distant about half a mile from the Westport-Cape Foulwind Railway and the Village of Omau. The northern end of the block (Section 20) is distant about three-quarters of a mile from the said railway-line, and has access by McKay's Road, which at present is unformed. The rest of the block has access by Wilson's Lead Road, which is formed and metalled from its junction with the Tauranga Road to within about 12 chains of the southernmost corner of Section 16; the remainder of the road is at present unformed. The land is all flat and easy rolling country. The soil is inferior to fair, on a sand and sandstone formation, generally with an iron pan or cement layer on top of the same. This country has been covered with dense forest, the chief timbers of which were rimu, yellow and silver pine. All the forest has been worked out by sawmillers, sleeper-cutters, &c. The land is now in a state of fern, dead timber, scrub, and small patches of dying bush. There are many tracks and old tram-lines throughout the block, and it is possible to ride through all the sections.
