IN pursuance of the Legislature Act, 1908, and the Legislature Amendment Act, 1910, I, William Henry Grace, Returning Officer for the Western Maori Electoral District, do hereby declare the result of the poll taken on the 19th day of December, 1911, for the election of a member of Parliament to serve in the House of Representatives for the above-mentioned district, the candidates nominated and the votes recorded for each being as follow :—

Legislature Amendment Act, 1910.
I, HAROLD CARR, the duly appointed Returning Officer for the Eastern Maori Electoral District, do hereby notify that on the close of the time appointed for receiving nominations of candidates qualified for election as members of Parliament for the said district, only one candidate was nominated — namely, Apirana Turupa Ngata, of Waiomatatini.
I therefore declare the said APIRANA TURUPA NGATA to be duly elected.

Notice of the Date on which Income-tax is payable.
THE LAND-TAX AND INCOME-TAX ACT, 1911.

BY Order in Council made and issued by His Excellency the Governor in Council on the 4th day of January instant, under the authority of the above Act, it was determined that the respective duties by way of income-tax, leviable under the said Act, should be paid in one sum on Wednesday, the 31st day of January, 1912, at the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Government Buildings, Wellington; and, in accordance with such Order in Council, I hereby give notice that the said duties will be payable accordingly.

Small Grazing-runs in Otago Land District for Lease on Application.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned small grazing-runs are open for lease for a term of twenty-one years, with right of renewal; and applications will be received at the District Lands Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 13th February, 1912, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.
Applicants will have to appear personally before the Land Board at the District Lands Office, Dunedin, at 10 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 14th February, 1912, to answer any questions the Land Board may ask.
The ballot, if necessary, will be held at the conclusion of the examination.

DESCRIPTION OF RUNS.
Run 121.—Undulating tussock country, partly cultivable; well watered. Access from railway at Middlemarch; distance, twelve miles. Height above sea-level, 900 ft. to 1,500 ft. The improvements comprise 339½ chains of boundary-fencing, of a total value of £110 3s. 9d.
Run 121J.—Undulating tussock country, partly cultivable; well watered. Access from railway at Middlemarch (distance, seventeen miles) or from Dunback (distance, nineteen miles) by formed roads. School and post-office at Moonlight, distance about five miles and a half. Height above sea-level, 1,000 ft. to 1,700 ft. The improvements comprise 319 chains of boundary-fencing, of a total value of £116 5s. 6d.
