Deduction of £30 per annum in each case if board and lodging provided, £20 if provided with house only, but attendants or artisan attendants in charge of cottage homes in special schools (Education Department) receive board and lodging free.

RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE BOARD.

(1.) (a.) That the following be the salaries and lodging-allowances in Class 8, Division II; cadetship to extend over four years :—

(b.) That any officer of Class 8 of Division II whose salary does not exceed £145 per annum and who passes the Civil Service Senior Examination will be deemed, for the purpose of this regulation, to have had twelve months’ additional service.

(c.) That any officer of the same class whose salary does not exceed £145 per annum and who has not passed such examination, but has obtained a certificate from the Education Department that he has passed in three of the subjects required for the examination, including at least one subject named by the head of his Department, will be deemed in like manner to have had six months’ additional service—to be increased to twelve months, as in subclause (b), when he completes the examination.

(2.) That any officer of Division II whose length of service is not less than twenty years and whose salary does not exceed £200 per annum shall be entitled by reason of his length of service to one increase of £10 per annum; and, further, any officer whose length of service is not less than thirty years and whose salary does not exceed £210 per annum shall be entitled by reason of such further length of service to one increment of £10 per annum.
