Claims.—(1.) For the purpose indicated, a tile characterized by having a longitudinal channel at one side for the purpose of forming an air-drive between the joints, substantially as set forth. . . . (5.) For the purpose indicated, a tile characterized by having a longitudinal air-drive at the lap of the joint, a channel at right angles to and communicating with said air-drive, a recess upon the overlapping side of the tile, into which the wall of the air-drive extends, substantially as set forth.

Claim.—(1.) In mechanism for increasing speed, a shaft carrying a disc furnished with a plurality of cranks, each of which is within a springy metal ring which revolves within a hollow cylinder common to all the rings, each of which presses on the journal of a spindle which is central and in a line with the driving-spindle, so that the driven spindle revolves at a much greater speed than the driving-shaft, all substantially as shown on the drawing, and as described and as explained.

No. 30342.—11th October, 1911.—Dr. Ernst Leuscher, Doctor of Philosophy, in care of Lehmann and Voss, of Bieberhaus, Hamburg, Germany, Manufacturers, but at present of Scottish House, William Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Improvement in the manufacture of casein whereby the food-values of the whey resulting therefrom are enhanced.
Claim.—(1.) In the manufacture of casein and of the whey resulting therefrom, the addition of phosphoric acid to the milk for purposes of coagulation, and the treatment of the whey resulting therefrom with lime in sufficient quantity to produce phosphate of lime in such whey in order to enhance its food-values.

Claim.—(1.) In improvements in coverings for roof-gutters, and in combination, a series of sections hingedly attached to a roof, a channel in each section, a down-turned portion along the edge of each section, and an inturned locking-lip below said down-turned portion.

Claim.—(1.) Recovering cyanogen from the gases liberated during the treatment of ores for the extraction of metals by means of cyanide or cyanogen compounds by collecting the gases and subjecting them, in a suitable vessel or vessels, to the action of an alkaline hydrate or carbonate, substantially as described.

Apparatus for the automatic closure of the gas-conduit for heating flames of lamps, furnaces, or the like.
Claim.—Arrangement for automatic cut-off of gas-supply for ignition of heating flame-burner for lamps, ignitions, and the like, and arranged in such a way that the gas-supply for the ignition or pilot flame is under control of a thermostatic valve.

Claim.—(1.) An indicating-system comprising an agitator driven positively with the motor, indicator-tubes in an air-tight casing and having freely movable visual indicator-plungers and pipes connecting the agitator and indicator-tubes, and constituting closed-air trains whereby the plungers are driven upward and assisted downward by the pulsations in the pipes, and the entrance of outside air is prevented.

Claim.—(1.) In a loom for weaving pile fabrics, the combination with pile-forming wires and their supporting uprights or pins, of a pile-comb or switch-reed having teeth or dents provided with projections or guides for preventing the pile-warp threads from passing back to the wrong sides of said uprights or pins and wires, substantially as shown and described.

Stopper-making machines.
Claims.—(1.) In a stopper-making machine, the combination of means for punching and forming a cap and retainer-ring, and co-operating means serving to fold the retainer-ring on the cap. (2.) In a stopper-making machine, the combination of blank-punching means adapted to produce a pair of web-connected discs, means for cupping one disc to afford a cap, means for perforating the other disc to produce a retainer-ring, and means for folding the retainer-ring on the top of said cap. . . . (5.) In a stopper-making machine, the combination of means for producing a double-disc blank, means for ring-piercing one disc and down-flanging the other disc, a reciprocatory carrier operative to advance the blanks by a step-by-step movement, a folder located beneath said carrier, said carrier having an opening whereat the folding-action may occur, means for intermittently feeding a cork-disc beneath the carrier, a cork-elevating plunger, and means for clenching the cap on the cork-disc.

Claim.—(2.) In a device of the nature indicated, a scraper having a portion bent to enter a longitudinal recess in the broom-head, and holes through which screws are passed for the purpose of securing said scraper in position, substantially as specified, and illustrated in the drawing.

In the making of petrol-gas by means of a revolving carburettor having a central feed and a partial vacuum instead of pressure within same, the combination of said carburettor with fan and gearing for driving same, the fan being driven by exhaust air, all substantially as shown on the drawing, and as described and as explained.
