[NOTE.—Here follow two other claims.]

No. 29041.—14th September, 1910.†—COLVILLE CHRISTIE, of Royal Insurance Buildings, at Pitt and Spring Streets, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Public Accountant (assignee of Henry Rawes Matcham Whittell, of Beecroft, near Sydney, in the State of New South Wales and Commonwealth of Australia, Customs and Shipping Agent). Improvements in machines for classifying and concentrating ores and metalliferous material, usable also for amalgamating.*

Extract from Specification.—These improvements in machines for concentrating, classifying, and separating ores and metalliferous material, usable also for amalgamation, according to this invention, consist, first, in the novel construction of a washing or puddling vessel comprising a stationary horizontal cylinder or drum perforated through its lower part, a revolving hollow perforated shaft or spindle in such cylinder, and a peculiarly constructed agitator. This agitator consists of a spiral of T section with its flat or head exteriorly set and affixed to arms and bosses at intervals on the shaft, and circumferentially at intervals the wings or the flat of the T helix are cut and turned or bent inwardly to form lifters and agitators. And these improvements consist, secondly, in the novel construction of classifying-vessel comprising endless bolts of woven or interlaced wire of small or minute gauge, and whether agitated or not, and receiving-trays under the upper surface of such endless bolts, so that the material passing through the bolts will be classified, and also that left upon the belt be conveyed to suitable receptacles. These improvements further consist in the combination with such washing-vessel, and whether or not with such classifying-vessel, of receiving launders or tables, whether or not agitated and whether or not provided with riffles, and with blanketing and with amalgamated surfaces. And these improvements also further consist in the novel construction of a final separator for classifying concentrated particles according to their specific gravity.

(Specification, 7s. 6d.)
