Sitting of the Native Land Court at Wanganui.

Registrar’s Office, Wanganui, 8th November, 1911.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court will hold a sitting at Wanganui on the 23rd day of November, 1911, to inquire into the several matters mentioned in the Schedule hereunder written, in respect of which applications have been received by the Registrar, and all such other matters as may be lawfully brought before it.

NOTICE is hereby given that a sitting of the Native Land Court will be held at Masterton on the 1st day of December, 1911, to hear and determine the several matters mentioned in the Schedule hereunder written.

REFERENCE BY THE CHIEF JUDGE TO THE NATIVE LAND COURT FOR INQUIRY AND REPORT.

IN THE NATIVE LAND COURT OF NEW ZEALAND,
GISBORNE DISTRICT.

In the matter of section 34 of the Maori Land Claims Adjustment and Laws Amendment Act, 1907, and of the Native Land Court Act, 1894; and in the matter of the block of land known as Te Kopuni.

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 34 aforesaid, the Chief Judge of this honourable Court referred to the Native Land Court for inquiry and report the issue as to “whether or not Karauria Pahura or Arapera Pahura intended at any time to admit other persons as owners in the above-mentioned block”;

And whereas, after due inquiry, the said Court, on the 16th day of June, 1910, reported that neither Karauria Pahura nor Arapera Pahura ever intended to admit others in the title, and that there was no evidence of fraud :

And whereas the said report was appealed against, and the Native Appellate Court, after due hearing, dismissed the appeals and upheld the said report :

Now, therefore, I, Jackson Palmer, the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court, do hereby order that no amendment of the Crown grant or title to the said land is necessary.

As witness my hand, this 20th day of October, 1911.
