Amending Boundaries of Taumarunui Maori Village or Kainga.

I T is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has approved, in terms of section 6 of the Maori Councils Amendment Act, 1903, of the boundaries of the village or kainga of Taumarunui as approved and published in the New Zealand Gazette of 20th October, 1904, page 2450, being amended by the addition of the following words : “All sections within these boundaries leased to Europeans are excluded.”

Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
I N pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1908, I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 27th day of November, 1911.
PART I.—PASSENGERS.
LOCAL FARES AND REGULATIONS, WELLINGTON DISTRICT.

T HE following Notices to Mariners, received from the Hydrographic Office, Washington, D.C., United States, America, are published for general information.

OREGON.
COOS BAY.—LIGHTS TO BE ESTABLISHED.—About 1st October, 1911, the following lights will be established in Coos Bay, Oregon :—
Jarvis Range Lights.—On 14th August, 1911, Pony Bend light, Coos Bay, Oregon, was moved 5 yards north-eastward from its former position, without change in characteristic. This light will be the front light of the range. The rear light will be a fixed white post-lantern light established 30 ft. above the water on a white cross-arm attached to a white post with black target about 600 yards 260° from the front light.
Porter Light.—A fixed white post-lantern light exhibited 15 ft. above the water from a red cross-arm attached to an unpainted pile dolphin erected in 10 ft. of water on the eastern side of the channel opposite Porter Mill Wharf. Approx. position : Lat. 43° 23′ N., long. 124°-13′ W. Bearings will be published later.
WASHINGTON.
PUGET SOUND.—RICH PASSAGE.—ORCHARD ROCKS.—GAS-BUOY TO BE ESTABLISHED.—LIGHT AND BUOY TO BE DISCONTINUED.—About 1st October, 1911, Orchard Rocks gas-buoy No. 4, conical in shape, surmounted by a pyramidal latticework and lantern, and showing a flashing white light every 3 seconds—thus, flash 0·3 second, eclipsed 2·7 seconds—will be established in the position now occupied by Orchard Rocks buoy 4, Rich Passage, Puget Sound, Washington. On the same date Orchard Rocks buoy 4 and Orchard Point light will be permanently discontinued.
BRITISH COLUMBIA.
VANCOUVER ISLAND.—VICTORIA HARBOUR ENTRANCE.—BROTCHY LEDGE LIGHT REPORTED IRREGULAR.—Captain Rushforth, of the steamer “Candidate,” reports that on 25th July, and again on 23rd August, 1911, when off the port of Victoria, British Columbia, he observed that the light on Brothcy Ledge was showing intermittent white every 10 seconds instead of every minute, as stated in the Light Lists and Sailing Directions. Captain Rushforth was informed by a local seaman that Brothcy Ledge light was very irregular, and sometimes showed fixed white. Approx. position : Lat. 48° 24′ 20″ N., long. 123° 23′ 40″ W.
RED SEA.
PERIM ISLAND.—CHANGE IN CHARACTERISTIC OF LIGHT.—FURTHER INFORMATION.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 31 (2187) of 1911, further notice is given that the revolving light on the eastern end of Perim Island, Red Sea, is to be replaced by a flashing light, showing 1 group of 4 flashes. During the work of transformation a flashing white light every minute is exhibited. Approx. position : Lat. 12° 39′ 14″ N., long. 43° 25′ 59″ E.
BAY OF BENGAL.
GULF OF MARTABAN.—DOUBLE ISLAND LIGHT.—OBSCURED SECTOR DISCONTINUED.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 21 (1422) of 1911, further notice is given that the obscured sector in Double Island light, Gulf of Martaban, between the bearings of 155° and 164°, has been discontinued, the light now showing from 173° to 353°. Approx. position : Lat. 15° 52′ N., long. 97° 35′ E.
CALIFORNIA.
SAN FRANCISCO BAY.—POINT BLUNT.—BUOY TO BE REPLACED BY BELL-BUOY.—About 15th October, 1911, Point Blunt bell-buoy, painted black and numbered 1, will be established off Point Blunt, San Francisco Bay, California, in place of Point Blunt buoy, a red and black horizontally striped can, which will be discontinued. Approx. position : Lat. 37° 51′ 5″ N., long. 122° 25′ W.
ARGENTINA.
BAHIA BLANCA (PORT BELGRANO) APPROACH.—SHOAL REPORTED.—Information has been received that on 31st May, 1911, the steamer “Santa Rita,” drawing 25 ft., struck several times on a shoal southward of Asuncion Point, Argentina, in (approximately) latitude 39° 5′ S., longitude 60° 41′ W.
BRAZIL.
EAST COAST.—RIO DE JANEIRO BAY.—TABACI ISLET.—LIGHT ESTABLISHED.—LIGHT-BUOY WITHDRAWN.—The Brazilian Government has given notice that a flashing red light every 4 seconds has been established on the rocks west-north-westward of Tabaci Islet, Rio de Janeiro Bay, Brazil. The light is exhibited 32 ft. above high water from a red iron truss, and should be visible 10 miles. Approx. position : Lat. 22° 46′ S., long. 43° 6′ 45″ W. The light-buoy marking Trinta Reis Rocks on the south-western side of Tabaci Islet has been discontinued.
SUMATRA.
EAST COAST.—DURIAN STRAIT.—MIDDLEBURG REEF.—LIGHT ESTABLISHED.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 35 (2543) of 1911, further notice is given that an intermittent red light has been established on the eastern side of Middleburg Reef, Durian Strait, east coast of Sumatra. Further information will be given. Approx. position : Lat. 0° 51′ 18″ N., long. 103° 34′ 18″ E.
HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.
MAUI ISLAND.—MAALAEA BAY.—KIHEI REEF.—DECREASED DEPTHS.—On 22nd August, 1911, careful soundings were taken on the 3-fathom spot on Kihei Reef, Maalaea Bay, south coast of Maui Island, and two spots having depths of 14 ft. 8 in. and 15 ft. respectively were found in the south-western quadrant of the circle indicating the shoal on the chart. The whole shoal is about 200 ft. in diameter. Within 150 ft. of the Kihei Reef buoy the water deepens from 3½ fathoms to 7 fathoms. A 2- to 3-knot current sets to the north-westward in the vicinity of Kihei Reef. Strangers should not attempt to pass between the buoy and the shore. Approx. position : Lat. 20° 45′ 46″ N., long. 156° 28′ 14″ W.
