rim or felloe upon the outer peripheral edges of a pair of rings, preferably of strip steel, such rings forming with the tire-rim an annulus in which the outer and free ends of the spokes have radial without lateral movement between distance-blocks contained within the annulus, the inner peripheral edges of said rings being resiliently supported by the springs coiled about the spokes.

No. 30126.—31st August, 1911.—ERNEST SCHULTZ, of Stanley Street, West Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Engineer (assignee of Alfred James Capp, of corner Allison Road and Hopetoun Street, Elsternwick, near Melbourne, Victoria aforesaid, Wire-worker). An improved milking-machine.
Extract from Specification.—The invention comprises a pulsator, claw, and set of teat-cups for each stand. The teat-cup consists of a tube or casing inside of which are inserted three or more pneumatic rings each independent of the other and each connected by a nipple to the casing of the cup. The nipples pass through said casing into a valve-box arranged at the side of the cup and connected by a short length of pressure-hose to a claw or four-way connection, whence another pipe leads to a pulsator, which in its turn is connected with a pressure-main leading from the air-pump and extending the full length of the milking-shed. The valve-box into which the nipples from the various inflating-tubes in the teat-cups lead is formed with partitions dividing one compartment from another. A ball or other valve is fitted in each of these partitions, and a small air by-pass is provided either inside said valve or in said partitions, said by-pass being preferably constructed so that its size can be adjusted to suit requirements.
(Specification, 12s. 6d.)

No. 30152.—4th September, 1911.—LOUIS COURLANDER, of No. 42 North End, Croydon, Surrey, England, Optician. Improvements in the construction of eye-glasses, spectacles, and the like.
Extract from Specification.—I provide a band of very thin metal, which is of such length of circumference as to closely embrace the periphery of the lens, the band, whilst having considerable strength to resist tension, being so thin and flexible as to conform to the shape of the profile of the lens. The contracting surfaces of the lens and embracing band are such as would be generated by a straight line which, whilst always remaining perpendicular to the middle plane of the lens, traverses a fair closed curve. These surfaces are consequently such as to come within the mathematical definition of a cylinder, although the cylinder is not of circular transverse section. The lens is secured within the band by means of a cementing material. Such a lens protected by being surrounded by a practically invisible rim will possess the unobservability feature of a frameless lens, and at the same time will provide means whereby the nose-bridge and ear-fittings for supporting the lens can be secured thereto in a simple and strong manner. The methods of effecting the connection of those fittings to the embracing band may be greatly varied, but their essential feature, according to the present invention, is such as to permit any kind or proportion of bridge-piece or other fitting to be secured to any kind or focus of lens and thus enable an optician to completely satisfy the requirements of his customers with a minimum quantity of stocked elements.
(Specification, 8s. 6d.)
[NOTE.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place of the claims.]

Copies of drawings may be obtained at the uniform price of 1s. each. In exceptional cases this price may be increased at the discretion of the Office.

An asterisk (*) denotes the complete specification of an invention for which a provisional specification has been already lodged. A dagger (†) denotes a prior date under the International and Intercolonial Arrangements.

NOTE.—The cost of copying the specification has been inserted after the notice of each application. An order for a copy or copies should be accompanied by a post-office order or postal note for the cost of copying.

The date of acceptance of each application is given after the number.

Extracts from the drawings accompanying the foregoing complete specifications appear at the end of this Gazette.
