HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint

AUGUSTINE FREDRICK WILSON (an officer of this De-
partment)

to be an Inspector under the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908,
the Fertilizers Act, 1908, and the Noxious Weeds Act,
1908; the appointment to date from 31st August, 1908.

Commands and Staff.
Major Henry Owen Knox, Army Service Corps, is granted
the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 6th
September, 1911.
Honorary Captain James O'Sullivan, Director of Equip-
ment and Stores, is granted the honorary rank of Major.
Dated 6th September, 1911.
Captain Charles Ernest Archibald (Unattached List), to
be an Intelligence Officer. Dated 30th August, 1911.

1st Mounted Rifles (Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry).
Quartermaster and Honorary Captain James Alfred North-
cote to be Captain. Dated 16th May, 1911.

2nd (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles.
Captain John Bird Hine is transferred to the Reserve of
Officers. Dated 25th May, 1911.
Lieutenant Samuel Dunn Johnston resigns his commission.
Dated 4th August, 1911.
William Risk, Esq., to be 2nd Lieutenant, supernumerary
to the establishment. Dated 26th June, 1911.

3rd (Auckland) Mounted Rifles.
Lieutenant Ernest Adam Vipond to be Captain, vice Bent,
resigned. Dated 21st June, 1911.

Captain Samuel Lewis is transferred to the 16th (Wai-
kato) Regiment. Dated 5th September, 1911.

6th (Manawatu) Mounted Rifles.
Captain William Fitzgerald Levin to be Major. Dated
16th May, 1911.
Captain Percy de Bathe Brandon (Unattached List) to be
Captain, vice Levin, promoted. Dated 5th September,
1911.

9th (Wellington East Coast) Mounted Rifles.
The date of the promotion of Captain A. H. Herbert to
the rank of Major, notified in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 47, of the 8th June, 1911, was 1st December, 1909,
not 18th April, 1911, as therein stated.
Lieutenant James Whittaker retires under the provisions
of paragraph 119, General Regulations, 1911. Dated 5th
September, 1911.

New Zealand Field Artillery.
Lieutenant John Garencières Rose to be Captain, to com-
plete establishment. Dated 16th May, 1911.
Alfred Herrick, Esq., to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 17th
August, 1911.

New Zealand Garrison Artillery.
Major William Henry Hazard to be Lieutenant-Colonel,
to command a division. Dated 15th July, 1911.

Major Henry Smart Edgar Hobday, v.d., Reserve of
Officers, retires under the provisions of paragraph 118,
General Regulations, 1911, with the honorary rank of
Lieutenant-Colonel, and permission to wear the pre-
scribed uniform. Dated 31st August, 1911.
Lieutenant Robert Amos Row to be Captain, to complete
establishment. Dated 16th May, 1911.
2nd Lieutenant Claude Arthur Ferguson resigns his com-
mission. Dated 25th August, 1911.

2nd (South Canterbury) Regiment.
Captain Charles Ernest Thomas, v.d., retires under the
provisions of paragraph 118, General Regulations, 1911,
with the honorary rank of Major, and permission to
wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 8th June, 1911.

3rd (Auckland) Regiment ("Countess of Ranfurly's Own").
2nd Lieutenant Herbert Swainson Atkinson to be Lieu-
tenant, vice Proctor, transferred to 15th (North Auck-
land) Regiment. Dated 17th March, 1911.
2nd Lieutenant Valentine Dunne to be Lieutenant, vice
Finlayson, resigned. Dated 1st June, 1911.

4th Regiment (Otago Rifles).
Major Johnston McAra to be Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated
18th June, 1911.

Odin Henry Moller. Dated 7th September, 1910.
Kenneth McKenzie Melville. Dated 7th September, 1910.
2nd Lieutenant James Alexander Laing resigns his com-
mission. Dated 8th August, 1911.
2nd Lieutenant John Falconer Ewen to be Lieutenant, vice
Moller, promoted. Dated 4th September, 1911.
The date of the promotion of Captain J. S. Douglas and
Captain P. R. Fordham to the rank of Major, as notified
in the New Zealand Gazette No. 64, of the 10th August,
1911, was 16th May, 1911, not 17th March, 1911, as
therein stated :—

Captain Edwin Arnold, v.d., retires under the provisions
of paragraph 118, General Regulations, 1911, with per-
mission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed

Captain Robert Horatio Roy Bayly (Unattached List) to
be Captain. Dated 17th March, 1911.
