No. 28577.—13th October, 1910.—Robert Gerald Ralph, of Huntly, New Zealand, Engineer. An improved construction of rat-trap.*
Extract from Specification.—According hereto, a trap is made of two pieces of wire, steel wire being used for a main frame and spring arm, and iron or brass wire for a trigger. As constructed for catching rabbits, the main frame has a pointed end whereby the trap is held upright at the mouth of a burrow by sticking the said end into the ground. The other end of the frame is curled into a bow, from which arises the spring arm, the end of which is vertical and has a shoulder or projection adapted to engage the main frame. The trigger is pivoted to the main frame by twisting the wire of which it is composed around the top of the frame and in such a manner that a cross-bar is formed above and below the frame. A tail of the trigger projects into the loop formed by the frame and spring arm in their set position. A slight push of the tail in either direction releases the spring arm from a notch in the frame, and the animal is caught between the said frame and arm. (Specification, 7s.)
[NOTE.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place of the claims.]
