Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the Purposes of a Street at Hastings.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto forms part of land acquired for the purposes of the Wellington-Napier railway, and it is considered desirable to allocate such land to the purposes of a street:

And whereas it has been certified by the Minister of Railways that such land is not required for railway purposes: And whereas such land is situated in the Borough of Hastings, the local authority of which has assented to the issue of this Proclamation: And whereas His Excellency the Governor is of opinion that the said local authority can conveniently construct and maintain the said street:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section one hundred and ninety-seven of the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, become a street, and that the said street shall be under the control of the Hastings Borough Council and shall be maintained by the said Council in like manner as other public highways are controlled and maintained by the said Council.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Land District of Hawke's Bay, containing an area of 19·6 perches, more or less, being a portion of railway land in the Borough of Hastings, and being bounded as follows: On the south-west by Heretaunga Street, a distance of 22·3 links; on the south-east by the north-western side of the road vested in the Hastings Borough Council by an Order in Council dated the 27th day of May, 1907, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 49, of 6th June, 1907, and a line drawn in continuation thereof, a total distance of 609·36 links; and on the north-west by straight lines, at bearings of 40° 18′ and 52° 57′ 37″ respectively, distances of 507·68 links and 100·08 links respectively: as the said parcel of land is more particularly shown, coloured purple, on plan marked W.R. 18878, in the office of the Minister of Railways at Wellington.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty's Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twelfth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section eleven of the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, with the consents of the owner of the land described in the First Schedule hereto, and of the Te Aroha Borough Council, being the local authority in whose district the said land is situated, proclaim as a street the land in Aroha Survey District described in the First Schedule hereto; and also do hereby, with the like consents as aforesaid, proclaim as closed the street described in the Second Schedule hereto, which is not required by reason of the street described in the First Schedule hereto.
