  1. Before and traction-engine is propelled or drawn upon or across any bridge or culvert within the Otamatea County the driver or person in charge of such traction-engine shall first lay down on such bridge or culvert planks of way of sufficient length and not less than 16 in. in width and 3 in. in thickness under such wheel, for the purpose of distributing as equally as possible the weight of such traction-engine over the whole length of such bridge or culvert; and no traction-engine shall be propelled or driven upon, over, or across any bridge or culvert whatsoever within the county save on planks of way as above provided. Such planks of way shall be removed by the driver or person or persons in charge of such engine immediately after the passage of such traction-engine over or across any bridge or culvert. Every person who commits a breach of this by-law (section 5) is liable to a fine, not exceeding £5, as the convicting Justices think fit.

  2. No person or persons shall make any application to the said Council pursuant to this by-law containing any untrue statement.

  3. Every person who commits a breach of sections 1 and 2 of this by-law is liable to a fine not exceeding £20, as the convicting Justices think fit.

  4. Repeal.—Clause (g) of subsection (2) of section 2 of By-law No. 1, providing for the use of 8 in. tires where the load exceeds 70 cwt., is hereby repealed and deleted from the said county by-laws.

  5. This by-law shall come into force on the 1st day of February, 1911.

OTAMATEA COUNTY.

Application to fix Cost of Reinstating Road, under Section 151 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

I, [Name in full], of , [Address], [Occupation], hereby apply to the Otamatea County Council to fix its estimate of the cost of reinstating the road from to . I propose to engage in the following traffic upon and along the said road, viz.: [Here set out nature and quantity of material to be carried].

I propose to convey such materials during the months of , in the year of , in vehicles of the following description: [Here set out description and number vehicles proposed to be employed, the width of the tires of each vehicle, the weight of the load proposed to be carried on each vehicle, the aggregate weight of the material proposed to be carried, and the number of horses to be employed to draw each vehicle].

The above by-law was made by special order of the Otamatea County Council, the resolution to make the same having been passed at a special meeting of the Council held on the 23rd day of November, 1910, advertised in the Wairoa Bell on the 23rd and 27th of December and the 6th and 13th of January, 1911, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting thereof on the 16th day of January, 1911.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Otamatea County was set and affixed hereto at a meeting and by order of the Otamatea County Council on the 16th day of January, 1911, in the presence of—

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Motueka Harbour Board proposes, under the provisions of the Harbours Act, 1908, and the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute harbour-works—namely, to erect wharves, sheds, necessary buildings, and other harbour-works—and for the purposes of such harbour-works the land specified in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken.

Notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required is deposited in the Motueka Harbour Board Office, situate at Motueka Wharf, Motueka, and is open for inspection, without fee, during ordinary office hours; and that all persons affected are called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections they may have to the execution of such work or the taking of such land, and to send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the said Motueka Harbour Board, addressed to me at the office aforesaid.

THE AWANUI GUM COMPANY (LIMITED), (IN LIQUIDATION).

NOTICE is hereby given that on 13th January, 1911, an entry was made in the minute-book of the Awanui Gum Company (Limited) as follows:—

“That the Awanui Gum Company (Limited) be wound up voluntarily under the provisions of the Companies Act, 1908; and that LESLIE GORDON MURRAY, of Auckland, Accountant, be and is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding-up.”

Such entry was signed by three-fourths of the shareholders, holding in the aggregate three-fourths of the shares in the capital of the company.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following special resolution was passed at the general meeting of shareholders of the Kaikoura Refrigerating and Fishing Company (Limited) duly held on the 23rd day of November, 1910, viz.: “That the Kaikoura Refrigerating and Fishing Company (Limited) be wound up voluntarily”; and that the said special resolution was confirmed at an extraordinary general meeting duly convened and legally constituted held on the 17th day of December, 1910, at the registered office of the company, Kaikoura; at which meeting also JOSEPH NICHOLAS FLOWER and GEORGE CUTHBERT MAYNE were appointed Liquidators for the purpose of such winding-up.”

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of Alfred Tyree and Company (Limited) held at the registered office of the company, situate in Lichfield Street, Christchurch, on Monday, the 16th day of January instant, at ten o’clock in the forenoon, the following extraordinary resolution was duly passed:—

“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of the meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and accordingly that the company be wound up voluntarily; and that JOHN HENRY STRINGER, of Christchurch, Accountant, be and he is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purposes of such winding-up.”
