in force in this country respecting the assignment of load-
lines to British Merchant ships :
Now, therefore, His Majesty in Council doth direct that
on proof that Swedish ships have complied with the afore-
said Swedish regulations such ships shall not, when in
ports of the United Kingdom, be liable to detention for
non-compliance with the provisions of the Merchant Ship-
ping Acts relating to overloading, nor shall there arise
any liability to any fine or penalty which would otherwise
arise for non-compliance with those provisions.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from the
Department of Navigation at Sydney, N.S.W., is
published for general information.

NOTICE TO MARINERS, NEWCASTLE.—THE NORTH CHANNEL
LEADING-LIGHTS, KNOWN AS THE BULL BEACONS, WILL BE
DISCONTINUED AFTER 7TH DECEMBER, 1910.
On and after the above date the North Channel Leading-
lights will be the double red light (on a beacon near the
pilot-station) in line with the white light (in a skeleton
tower) on the southern breakwater. When in line they will
bear north 76° west, and south 76° east magnetic, and will
lead clear to the northward of No. 1 North Harbour Buoy,
300 ft.

Notice to Mariners No. 7 of 1910.
THREE-FATHOM SHOAL OFF CHEVIOT COAST.

Wellington, N.Z., 24th January, 1911.
WITH reference to Notice to Mariners No. 141 of
1910, issued by this Department on 3rd December,
1910, relating to a newly found rocky patch off the Cheviot
Coast, Mr. Bushett, of the fishing-vessel “Wairoa,”
further reports that he has examined the rocks previously
reported, and he finds three pinnacle rocks about a mile
and a half S.E. magnetic of S.E. extremity of the
chartered four-fathom shoal; one rock is 18 ft. below the
surface, one 19 ft., and the other 21 ft.
The rocks are close together within an area of 30 ft.,
and he has placed a buoy over the danger.

Notice to Mariners No. 8 of 1911.
LIGHT ON ORAKEI WHARF, AUCKLAND HARBOUR.

Wellington, N.Z., 24th January, 1911.
THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that a
white Lux light, of 1,000-candle power, visible for
about six miles all round the horizon, will be exhibited on
Orakei Wharf (Okahu Point) on and after Thursday, the
26th January, 1911.
The light is 18 ft. above high water, and is situated
18 ft. from the north-west corner and 5 ft. from the south-
western edge of the wharf.

Notice to Mariners No. 9 of 1911.
AUCKLAND HARBOUR.

Wellington, N.Z., 25th January, 1911.
THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that on
and after the 27th January, 1911, a pile-driver
pontoon will be moored at the end of the new No. 4
jetty now under construction off Quay Street, with anchor
laid out to the north, north-west, and north-east.
Mariners are requested to pass the pontoon with great
caution.

Varied Notice fixing Closing-hours of Hairdressers’ and
Tobacconists’ Shops in the Borough of Masterton under
the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a
majority of the occupiers of all the hairdressers’
and tobacconists’ shops, combined and separately, in the
Borough of Masterton, has been forwarded to me, desiring
that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the
evening of working-days as follows: Monday and Wednes-
day, 8 o’clock in the evening; Tuesday and Friday,
6 o’clock in the evening; Thursday, the statutory half-
holiday, 1 o’clock p.m.; Saturday, 10 o’clock p.m.: And
whereas the Masterton Borough Council has certified that
the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of
the occupiers of all the hairdressers’ and tobacconists’
shops, combined and separately, within the Borough of
Masterton :
Now, therefore, I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 30th
day of January, 1911, all hairdressers’ and tobacconists’
shops, combined and separately, in the Borough of
Masterton shall be closed in accordance with such requisi-
tion.
The notice gazetted on 19th March, 1908, fixing the
closing of all such shops is hereby varied accordingly.

Forbidding Money-order and Postal Correspondence for
“Prof.” Notmann, Christchurch.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand
having reasonable ground for supposing that the
person whose name and present address are shown in the
Schedule hereunder is engaged in advertising the treatment
of diseases of the sexual organs, it is hereby ordered,
under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908,
that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be
issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said
person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed
name), or addressed to the address in the Schedule here-
under without a name, shall be either registered, forwarded,
or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.
