- The sinking or boring of an artesian well near the mouth of the Mataongaonga Stream and the reticulation of water therefrom through certain streets in the borough, including in such reticulation the laying of pipes in such streets and the providing of all appliances, plant, and things necessary or convenient thereto or for the efficient working thereof: £300
the said Wanganui East Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Wanganui East Borough, comprising the whole of the Borough of Wanganui East; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 30th day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
The above resolution was passed by the Wanganui East Borough Council at an ordinary meeting of the said Council held on the 12th day of June, 1911.

THE following resolution, made by the Inangahua County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendment.

INANGAHUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Resolution making Special Rate.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and amendment thereof, and of all other powers it thereby enabling, the Inangahua County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £2,500, authorized to be raised by the Inangahua County Council, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of providing one-half the estimated cost of a bridge over the Inangahua River near Reefton, the said Inangahua County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/10 of a penny in the pound on the unimproved value of all the rateable property in the County of Inangahua; and that such rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable on the 15th day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the loan is fully paid off. The rate of interest to be 3½ per centum per annum.
The above resolution was passed at a meeting of the Inangahua County Council held on the 21st day of June, 1911; and the common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Inangahua was affixed hereto in the presence of—

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Mangaweka Town Board, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Town District of Mangaweka was taken on the 24th day of June, 1911, on the proposal of the Mangaweka Town Board to borrow the sum of £9,110 for the purpose of constructing waterworks and the installation of a sewerage system for the Town of Mangaweka.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 102. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 2. The number of informal votes was 1.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried. Dated this 26th day of June, 1911.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—MORSE SYSTEM FOR NIGHT SIGNALLING INSTALLED.

THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that a Morse signal lamp has been installed at the end of the Railway Wharf, and that messages may now be received from and sent to shipping regularly from dark to dawn of each day.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Boot and Shoe Shops in the Borough of Thames under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the boot and shoe shops in the Borough of Thames, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed during the months of June, July, and August at 5.30 p.m. on each working-day, except the statutory half-holiday, and 9 p.m. on Saturdays: And whereas the Thames Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the boot and shoe trade within the Borough of Thames:
Now, therefore, I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that, from and after the 8th day of July, 1911, all such shops in the Borough of Thames shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.
Mines Department,
Wellington, 14th February, 1910.
NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1911, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1912.

No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.

In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.
