No. 29470.—1st May, 1911.—FREDERICK JOHN NORTHCOTT, of Christchurch, New Zealand, Manufacturers’ Agent. Improvements in milk-receiving cans for milking-machines.
Extract from Specification.—The invention consists in dividing a single can into two distinct compartments, and providing each compartment with a gauge-glass extending upwards from its crown, and with a float having a rod fixed to its upper side adapted to project upwards into the gauge-glass. Each compartment is also provided with a pair of port-openings in the top thereof. A valve-plate is provided, and formed with two apertures therein, which are adapted to coincide with the respective port-openings in each compartment. These apertures are provided with nipple or like connections by means of which connections respectively between the vacuum main and the teat-cups may be made. The valve-plate is attached to a handle by means of which it may be moved to fit over the ports of either compartment at will, and thus connect such compartment with the vacuum, in order that the milk may flow into it, and at the same time to uncover the ports of the other compartment in order to admit air thereto. Instead of a single can divided into compartments two separate cans may be employed.
