No. 28795.—29th November, 1910.—CHARLES EDWARD HARDLEY, of Albert Street, Auckland, New Zealand, Importer. An improved air-pump ventilator.
Claims.—(1.) In a ventilator of the type indicated, the employment of the curved perforated plates within the cylindrical outer casing, substantially as specified and illustrated. (2.) A ventilator consisting of the parts constructed, combined, and arranged substantially as set forth and illustrated.

No. 28796.—29th November, 1910.—WILLIAM REEVES, of Henderson, Auckland, New Zealand, Manufacturer. Improved swingletree.
Claims.—(1.) A swingletree consisting of the parts constructed, combined, and arranged substantially as specified and illustrated. (2.) A swingletree comprising the spreader-bar shaped at its ends, and a metal strap secured to said bar at one end having a coupling-link at its middle, and trace-coupling links at either end, substantially as specified, and illustrated in the drawing.

Extract from Specification.—The use of one or more pairs, preferably two pairs, of oppositely disposed hooks, all mounted on the one plate, and which are placed a short distance apart and in a position with their sides parallel to each other, the length of the hooks being such that they extend beyond each other in such a manner that at each pair of hooks a page, letter, or the like, having two perforations for each pair of hooks, can be placed with one hook in one perforation and the other hook in the other perforation, and when so placed can be turned backwards and forwards first on one hook then upon both at the parts where they extend side by side, and afterwards on the other hook.

Extract from Specification.—Comprise the attaching of the pair of diverging holding straps or tapes for each stocking on the ends of one long travelling supporting-band, and providing a device, preferably a runner or sheave, in the body of the suspender for supporting the travelling supporting-band and allowing it free movement through or over such device.

Claims.—The described binding-solution, consisting of quicklime dissolved in a hot solution of sugar, and which becomes sucrate of lime; diluted with water and a solution of sodium-silicate, substantially and for the purposes described. (2.) The described binder-solution with a dilute solution of calcium-chloride, substantially and for the purposes set forth. (3.) The described composition of matter with limestone and phosphate of alumina, substantially and for the purposes set forth.

No. 28840.—7th December, 1910.—HENRY DAVID ELLIOTT, of 24 Ferry Road, Glebe Point, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Furniture Warehouseman. Aerial passenger-car for amusement purposes.
Extract from Specification.—According to this invention the car is suspended from and propelled along a fixed track-way by an electrically driven aerial propeller, the power-current being conveyed to the motor contained in the car by medium of a trolley-wire positioned to superpose said trackway, a trolley-pole of ordinary construction being attached to the top of the car to contact with said trolley-wire, the metallic trackway acting as a return conductor.

No. 28847.—7th December, 1910.—ARTHUR JAMES BILLOWS, of 59 Queen Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Manufacturing Chemist. Improvements relating to taps for jars and other liquid-containers.
Claims.—(1.) In taps for jars and other liquid-containers having a sliding valve-stem with actuating-mechanism, the combination of a plug or boss forming the holder for the valve-stem, together with a resilient bridle connected to the valve-stem, and a hinged handle or lever so connected with said bridle as to cause the valve-stem to slide inwards or outwards as the handle is swung in one direction or the other for the purpose of opening or closing the valve.

No. 28850.—8th December, 1910.—WILLIAM HENRY BAUERT, of Forbes, New South Wales, Australia, Farmer. Improvements in signal mechanism for stopping railway-engines.
Claims.—(1.) For a locomotive, a swing-casing, a slide therein with pivoted arms, a loop formed by the arm lower ends, guides or rollers on the casing between which the arms pass, and inward bends or the like on the arms to cause the loop to open when pulled down. (2.) For a locomotive, a swing-casing having downwardly projecting arms forming a loop, means to open the loop when pulled, and, extending down from the casing, arms or framing with rollers or means to keep the loop clear of high parts of the track. (3.) The combination with a casing attached below a locomotive, and having a slide connected to air-brake mechanism to apply the brakes when the slide is pulled, and a loop to pull the slide, of a track-lever having a hook adapted to be raised to engage the loop, and means to raise or lower the hook from a distance.

No. 28851.—8th December, 1910.—JACOB DAVID WOLF, of 3 Great Winchester Street, London, England, Engineer. Improvements in or relating to the separation of metalliferous materials from their ores or other matter carrying same.
Extract from Specification.—In carrying out my present invention I employ an endless travelling belt, of canvas or any suitable material or materials, which is provided over the whole or a part of its surface with a thin coating of viscous oil or any suitable tacky material, such belt (at the point where the material to be treated thereon is supplied thereto) according to my present invention being inclined laterally so as to present a laterally sloping surface, and such laterally sloping part of the belt may travel endwise either in a horizontal direction or [and] in an inclined direction, or the belt may be partly sloping sideways and partly flat transversely and flat or inclined in the direction of its travel at the said point as aforesaid, or otherwise as desired, but always with the lateral incline as aforesaid.
