Macquarie Leading-lights.

NOTICE is hereby given that on account of the brightness of the light on Entrance Island interfering with the navigation of vessels entering Macquarie Harbour, its intensity has been reduced by shading between the bearings S. 42° E. and N. 48° E., taken from seaward.

Notice to Mariners No. 16 of 1911.

LIGHT ON DIEFFENBACH POINT, QUEEN CHARLOTTE SOUND.

NOTICE is hereby given that on and after the night of Thursday, the 23rd February, 1911, a Wigham unwatched white light will be exhibited from a small 9 ft. tower (painted white) on Dieffenbach Point, at an elevation of 39 ft. above high water.

The light should be visible all round the horizon, except when obscured by the land, for a distance of five miles.

Charts, &c., affected: Admiralty Charts Nos. 695 and 2685; “New Zealand Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chap. vi, page 171.

Forbidding Money-order and Postal Correspondence for Dr. W. G. McClure, Sydney.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in advertising the treatment of diseases of the sexual organs, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Forbidding Money-order and Postal Correspondence for J. Stelin, Wellington.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in receiving money as the consideration for an assurance or agreement implied to pay money on events relating to horse-races, it is hereby ordered, under section 28A of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.

Examination-sheds appointed.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by the Customs Law Act, 1908, I, the Minister of Customs, do hereby appoint that the undermentioned buildings shall be places where goods may be deposited for examination on the landing thereof, namely:—

WHARF SHED MARKED A,

situated on Levin’s Wharf, on part of 46, Opawa Block 16, Cloudy Bay, Port of Wairau; and

WHARF SHED MARKED B,

situated on Clouston’s Wharf, in Opawa Street, of the Town of Blenheim.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 14th February, 1910.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

  1. That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1911, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1912.

  2. No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.

  3. In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.

Bonus on Mineral Oil produced in New Zealand.

Wellington, 21st December, 1910.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £10,000 will be paid for the production of mineral oil as under:—

  1. (a.) £2,500 to be paid on proof being submitted that not less than 250,000 gallons of marketable crude oil has been won.
