mings, ti-tree, gorse, briar, scrub, timber, branches of
trees, or other refuse or matter of any description.
PEDLARS AND HAWKERS.
- No person shall within the county hawk or peddle
with goods or articles whatsoever unless such person shall
be the holder of a license from the Council. - Every person desirous of obtaining a hawker's or
pedlar's license shall make application in writing to the
Clerk, and shall with such application furnish a certificate
from two respectable persons that he is of good character.
The renewal of any license shall not require a fresh
application. - Upon receiving the particulars mentioned in the
preceding section a license will be issued, and the person
applying for the same shall pay the fee therefor according
to the following scale:—
For a period of one year ... 1 0 0
For a period of six months ... 0 12 6
For a period of three months ... 0 7 6
For a period of one month and under ... 0 5 0
- Every licensed hawker or pedlar shall at all times
when hawking or peddling carry his license with him, and
shall show the same to any police constable or officer of the
Council who shall demand to see the same. - The provisions of this part of the by-laws shall not
apply to hawking any articles for use as food, or milk, or
printed books, magazines, pamphlets, and newspapers.
PENALTY.
- Any person committing a breach of any of these
provisions of these by-laws for which no penalty is herein-
before provided shall be liable on conviction thereof to a
fine not exceeding £5. - In every case in which a breach of any of these by-
laws shall be a continuing one, and the by-law is one
authorized to be made under the Counties Act, 1908, then
there shall be a fine imposed not exceeding £5 for every
day or part of a day during which such breach shall con-
tinue.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
Application to fix Cost of reinstating Roads under Sec-
tion 151 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

to the Whangarei County Council to fix its estimate of
the cost of reinstating the Road from to
. I propose to engage in the conduct of the fol-
lowing traffic upon and along the said road [Here set out
nature and quantity of material to be carried]. I propose

' The above by-laws were made by the Whangarei County
Council by special order passed at a meeting held on the
10th day of August, 1910, and confirmed at a subsequent
meeting of the said Council held on the 28th day of
September, 1910.

at a meeting and by order of the Whangarei County

With respect to the within by-laws appointing the
several sums to be paid to Whangarei County Funds for
the licensing of vehicles, the Governor hereby approves of
the same in so far as they are lawfully made and his
approval is required by section one hundred and seven of
the Counties Act, 1908.

BOARD.
SPECIAL ORDER.
AT a special meeting of the Auckland and Suburban
Drainage Board, held on Friday, the 6th day of
January, 1911, a resolution was passed confirming the
special order made at a special meeting of the Board held
on 30th November, 1910, as follows:-
That the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board, in
pursuance of the powers conferred on it by the
Auckland and Suburban Drainage Act, 1908, doth
hereby by special order make the following by-laws
to be known as “The Auckland and Suburban
Drainage Board’s By-laws No. 2.”
AUCKLAND AND SUBURBAN DRAINAGE BOARD.
By-laws governing the Connection of Sewers and Drains
with the Main Sewers or Drains belonging to the Board.
In these by-laws, if not inconsistent with the context,—
“The Drainage Board” means the Board as consti-
tuted by the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Act,
1908:
“Contributing bodies” means every local authority
of every city, borough, or road district the whole
or any part whereof is for the time being com-
prised in or forming part of the drainage district:
“The Engineer” means the officer for the time being
acting as the Drainage Engineer duly appointed by
the Board:
“The Secretary” means the Secretary for the time
being of the Drainage Board, and includes any per-
son for the time being appointed by the Drainage
