Resuming Land for the Purposes of a Gravel-pit in the Canterbury Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and forty-four of the Land Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor in Council may, by Proclamation, resume possession of any land leased under Part III of the said Act, or under any corresponding Part of the Land Act, 1892, which in his opinion is required for any public purpose:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto forms part of land which is held under occupation-with-right-of-purchase license from His Majesty the King under Part III of the Land Act, 1892, dated the twenty-ninth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and four:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required for a public purpose—that is to say, for the purposes of a gravel-pit:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby proclaim and declare that I hereby resume possession of the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto for the public purpose hereinbefore mentioned, the same being part of the land held under occupation-with-right-of-purchase license as aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being part of Rural Section 36447, situated in Block X, Westerfield Survey District. Bounded towards the south-east by the Road forming the southern boundary of Rural Section 36447, a distance of 200 links; towards the north-east by Rural Section 36448, a distance of 500 links; and towards the north-west and south-west by lines parallel to the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries, distances of 200 links and 500 links respectively: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 48459/7, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured pink.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and ten.

ERRATA.—In the Schedule to the Warrant permanently reserving lands for various purposes, dated the 22nd October, 1910, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 95, of the 27th October, 1910, page 3825, for “Section 130, Block III, Kawatiri Survey District,” read “Part of Section 130, Block III, Kawatiri Survey District.”

In the Schedule to the Proclamation dated the 31st October, 1910, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 96, of the 3rd November, 1910, page 3863, reserving lands in the Otago Land District for scenic purposes (Catlin’s River Scenic Reserve), for “Section No. 21,” in the description of the second parcel of land, containing 5 acres 3 roods, read “Section No. 22.”
