SUMMARY FOR AUGUST, 1910.
With the exception of the districts about Cape Egmont, and on the West Coast of the South Island, the rainfall was generally below the average, and especially in Otago and Southland.
The barometer was subject to frequent but not great fluctuations, which were of the usual type of westerly low pressure, the minimum passing in the far South. These movements caused changeable and showery weather in many parts. The most notable occurrence was a cyclonic storm, the centre of which passed through Cook Strait on the night of the 27th instant, and was followed by high southerly winds, with heavy rains and falls of snow in the South, and on mountains in North.
