The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 614, against 583 in April—an increase of 31. The deaths in June were 255—an increase of 51 on the number in May. Of the total deaths, males contributed 147, females 108. Forty-eight of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 18·82 per cent. of the whole number; 37 of these were under one year of age.

There were ninety-five deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards: Thirteen men, 65, 66, 68, 69, 70, 72, 74, 75, 76 (two), 77, 79, 88, and ten women, 66, 68, 76, 79, 80, 82, 83, 84, 86, 90, died at Auckland; nine men, 65, 67, 68, 72 (three), 78 (two), 80, and eleven women, 65, 71, 73 (two), 74, 75 (two), 77, 79, 80, 84, at Wellington; thirteen men, 66 (two), 68, 70, 73, 77, 79 (two), 81, 85, 86 (two), 98, and fourteen women, 65, 72, 73, 75 (two), 77, 79, 81 (two), 82 (two), 83, 84, 86, at Christchurch; and fifteen men, 65, 69, 71, 72, 73 (two), 75 (two), 77, 79, 80, 82 (two), 84, 85, and ten women, 67, 68, 69, 71, 76, 77 (two), 79 (three), at Dunedin.
