the matter of “The Land Drainage Act, 1908.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the Sefton-Ashley
Drainage Board, incorporated under the provisions
of “The Land Drainage Act, 1908,” requires to take, under
the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1908,” for the
public work hereinafter described,—

All that parcel of land, being part of Rural Section 2051,
situated in the Rangiora Survey District of the Provincial
District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 1 rood

follows: Commencing at a point on the western boundary
of the said section, the said point being distant 1268⁴⁄₁₀ links
southerly from the north-western corner of the said section;
thence south-easterly and bearing 132° 28′ 30″ true, a dis-
tance of 799·05 links; thence north-westerly and bearing

The following is a general description of the works pro-
posed to be executed by the said Board on the said parcel
of land, namely: A protective bank of earth and shingle, of
an average height of about 5 ft., and an average width at the
base of about 15 ft. and on the top of 5 ft.; a wire fence on
each side of such parcel of land, with willows planted on the
said bank and on the said parcel of land; the whole to form
protective works to prevent the River Ashley from over-
flowing on to or encroaching on the adjoining lands in the
Sefton-Ashley Drainage Board District.

And notice is hereby further given that a plan showing
the land required to be taken, and the names of the owners
and occupiers of such land so far as they can be ascertained,
is deposited at the general store of James Barclay, situated
opposite the Government Railway-station at Sefton, where
the same lies open for public inspection daily without fee
during all reasonable hours.

And notice is also given that all persons affected by the
execution of the said public work or by the taking of the
said land shall, if they have any well-grounded objection to
the taking of such land or to the execution of such public
work, set forth in writing such objection, and send such
writing, within forty days from the date of the first publica-
tion of this notice, being the 26th day of January, 1910, to
the Chairman of the Sefton-Ashley Drainage Board, ad-
