THE following Commission, appointing the Right Honourable Lord Islington, D.S.O., to be Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Dominion of New Zealand, is published for general information.

NEW ZEALAND.

COMMISSION passed under the Royal Sign Manual and Signet appointing the Right Honourable Lord Islington, D.S.O., to be Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Dominion of New Zealand.

EDWARD R. & I.

Edward the Seventh, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and of the British Dominions beyond the Seas King, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India : To Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved John Poynder, Baron Islington, Companion of Our Distinguished Service Order : Greeting.

We do, by this Our Commission under Our Sign Manual and Signet, appoint you, the said John Poynder, Baron Islington, to be, during Our pleasure, Our Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Our Dominion of New Zealand, with all the powers, rights, privileges, and advantages to the said Office belonging or appertaining.

II. And We do hereby authorise, empower, and command you to exercise and perform all and singular the powers and directions contained in Our Letters Patent under the Great Seal of Our United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, bearing date at Westminster the Eighteenth day of November, 1907, or in any other Letters Patent adding to, amending, or substituted for the same, according to such Orders and Instructions as Our said Governor and Commander-in-Chief for the time being hath already received, and to such further Orders and Instructions as you may hereafter receive from us.

III. And We do hereby appoint that so soon as you shall have taken the prescribed Oaths and have entered upon the duties of your Office, this Our present Commission shall supersede Our Commission under Our Sign Manual and Signet bearing date the Twentieth day of November, 1907, appointing Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander (now Knight Grand Cross) of Our Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of Our Royal Victorian Order, to be Our Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Our Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies.

IV. And We do hereby command all and singular Our Officers, Ministers, and loving subjects in Our said Dominion, and all others whom it may concern, to take due notice hereof, and to give their ready obedience accordingly.

Given at Our Court at Saint James’s, this Fourth day of May, 1910, in the Tenth year of Our Reign.

THE following special order, made by the Ohakune Town Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

OHAKUNE TOWN BOARD.

Special Order making Special Rate.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the Ohakune Town Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest at the rate of £3 10s. per centum per annum, together with £1 per cent. for sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £2,000, being a portion of the loan of £13,000 authorised to be raised by the Ohakune Town Board under the above-mentioned Act for roads and footpaths construction within the Ohakune Town District, the said Ohakune Town Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 6½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable pro-
