SUMMARY FOR NOVEMBER, 1909.
Except in the Hawke’s Bay district, the rainfall was below the average in nearly all parts of the Dominion. Although over the South Island westerly winds prevailed during the first half of the month, the rainfall on the West Coast was only about one-third of the average. In the latter part of the month easterly winds prevailed over the South Island, and the East Coast had showery weather, while the West Coast was remarkably dry. Rainfalls were generally heaviest on the 1st and about the 20th, and in the last week of the month over the Hawke’s Bay district. The month was free from great storms, but there were several short gales in parts of the country.
