Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the undermentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

The copies of claims and extracts from the specifications and drawings are merely intended to give some further indication of the invention than is disclosed in the title, and the complete specifications and drawings should be referred to for a description of the invention.

No. 25929.—11th May, 1909.—ROBERT BEATTIE, Slater, and GEORGE CROXFORD, Plumber, both of Christchurch, New Zealand. Improvements in snow-boards.*

Extract from Specification.—According hereto metal bearers are placed at intervals in the valley or gutter of a roof, and extend across the valley or gutter, which they are shaped to fit. The bearers support channel-shaped sheet metal, or sheet metal corrugated with rectangular channels, and through the flat tops of the corrugations openings are provided to allow melted snow to escape into the gutter or valley below. The channelled metal may be riveted or otherwise secured to the bearers.

No. 25947.—11th May, 1909.—THE MILBURN LIME AND CEMENT COMPANY, LIMITED, a company incorporated in the Dominion of New Zealand, and having its registered office in Dunedin, New Zealand (assignee of Frank Oakden, of Dunedin, General Manager of the said Company). Improvements in the process of manufacturing Portland cement and apparatus therefor.*

Claims.—(1.) In the process of manufacturing Portland cement, the step which consists in roughly crushing a mixture of quicklime and moist clay, collecting same in a suitable receptacle, and allowing same to remain therein until the lime is slaked and the clay is dried, substantially as described. (2.) Process of manufacturing Portland cement, which consists in forming a mixture by measuring out suitable quantities of quicklime and moist clay, roughly crushing same, collecting same in a receptacle, allowing same to remain therein until the lime is slaked and the clay dried, finely grinding same, roasting same in a kiln, and grinding the resulting clinker, substantially as described.

No. 25964.—21st May, 1909.—THOMAS SIDDANS, of Commercial Travellers’ Club, Wellington, New Zealand, Chief Steward. Improvements in boxes used for holding counters and the like.*

Extract from Specification.—According to my invention the fraudulent extraction of counters is made impossible by providing a brass plate on the outside of the lid of the box with a slit just large enough to admit a single counter, and by sets of spring-operated levers or bars pivoted to fall across the slit upon the inner side of the brass plate.

No. 25971.—25th May, 1909.—LOUISA MARY WILTON, of 300 Rintoul Street, Wellington, New Zealand, Married Woman. Draining or drying crockery, cutlery, and the like.*

Extract from Specification.—The apparatus comprises a box of galvanised iron containing a rack consisting of superposed bars, and fitting loosely within the box, and standing upon its legs therein. The box has a hinged lid, and a water outlet which is arranged to direct water from the box into a sink or into a removable receptacle.

Claim.—A tire for the wheels of cycles, motor-cars, and other vehicles, constructed of a crimped-wire mesh formed by plaiting or braiding steel spring wires diagonally together and crimping them as they cross, substantially as described.
