Notice of Request to amend Specification.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 9th March, 1910.

REQUEST for leave to amend the undermentioned
application for Letters Patent has been received,
and is open to public inspection at this office. Any person
may, at any time from one month from the date of this
Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the amend-
ments. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds
of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable
thereon.

No. 26980.—2nd December, 1909.—B. Baron. Means for
charging smoking-pipes. (Advertised in Supplement to New
Zealand Gazette, No. 2, of the 13th January, 1910).

The nature of the proposed amendment is as follows:—
(1.) To strike out claims 1 and 2, page 7, and to insert in
place thereof the following claim: “1. For charging smoking-
pipes, a tobacco-packet comprising tobacco laid longitu-
dinally as to its flakes, an open-ended covering surrounding
said tobacco, and binding same sufficiently tightly to pre-
vent the tobacco falling therefrom by the action of gravity
while yet permitting the tobacco to be easily expelled from
the covering into a pipe by means of a plunger.”
(2.) To number claims 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10—2, 3, 4, 5,
6, 7, 8, 9 respectively.

The applicant states, “My reason for making this amend-
ment is as follows: For more clearly defining the scope of
the invention.”
