No. 27170.—18th January, 1910.—WILLIAM EDWARD BANDFIELD, of 70 Tettenhall Road, Wolverhampton, Stafford, England, Engineer. Improvements in the attachment of telegraph and similar line wires to insulators.
Extract from Specification.—A substantially U-shaped clip adapted to partially surround the insulator, and having forked ends within which the line-wire is introduced, and clamped by wedging-pieces in a manner causing the line-wire to frictionally grip the insulator at that part of it between the forked ends, at the same time the clip to be pulled tight around or on to said insulator, said wedging-action causing a firm affixment of the clip and line-wire, and providing a slight cranking in the line-wire between the forked ends. The clip may be made to encircle the insulator between two larger diameters, to thereby provide so that the said clip is held in position vertically or axially of the insulator. The clip at its ends has a pair of forks to receive the line-wire, and closed forks or boxes to receive the wedging-pieces; and said clip can be conveniently made from a flat strip of metal suitably shaped, and provided near each end with an elongated slot which on bending the particular end of the fork will form a pair of open forks to receive the line-wire, and a closed box to receive the wedging-pieces.
[NOTE.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place of the claims.]
