Vital Statistics and Causes of Death

Dec. 22.] THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE. 4305

The inclusion of the suburban boroughs tends to lower the rate at Auckland and Wellington, but raises it at Christchurch and Dunedin.

Auckland City .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 0·97
and seven suburban boroughs .. .. .. .. .. .. 0·72
Wellington City .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 0·74
and three suburban boroughs .. .. .. .. .. .. 0·69
Christchurch City .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 0·60
and three suburban boroughs .. .. .. .. .. .. 0·63
Dunedin City .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 0·72
and five suburban boroughs .. .. .. .. .. .. 0·78

Including the suburbs, the rate at Dunedin is the highest, and at Christchurch the lowest.

Compared with November, 1909, the results are,—

Auckland and suburbs .. .. .. .. .. .. 1909. 1910.
0·60 0·72
Wellington and suburbs .. .. .. .. .. .. 0·67 0·69
Christchurch and suburbs .. .. .. .. .. .. 0·58 0·63

The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 572, against 618 in October—a decrease of 46. The deaths in November were 199—a decrease of 14 on the number in October.
