  1. Any assistant substituted for two pupil-teachers under note (d) to the Fourth Schedule to the principal Act shall be deemed to be entitled to a salary of Grade Ia under the Education Amendment Act, 1908.

  2. (a.) In any school placed on the 1st January in Grade 0 the average attendance on which the amount payable for or on account of the salary for any quarter shall be paid shall be the average daily attendance for the quarter immediately preceding, or the yearly average attendance for the year ending 31st December preceding, or the mean of the average attendance for the four quarters immediately preceding, whichever is the highest.

(b.) If, however, a school in Grade 0 has an average attendance for the preceding quarter of 16, or for two, three, or four quarters immediately preceding of 14, or 12, or 9, as the case may be, the school shall be placed in Grade I.

  1. (a.) In the case of the opening of a new school, or of the opening afresh of a school that has been closed for more than six months immediately preceding, the amount of the salaries payable to the teachers of the school from the date of opening thereof shall be paid to the Board after the first calendar month in which the school has been open continuously on and after the first Monday of the month.
