Tenders for Galvanized-iron Wire.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 9th December, 1910.

TENDERS will be received until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 4th January, 1911, for the supply and delivery of 50 tons galvanized-iron wire, 200 lb. to the mile.

Conditions of tendering and specifications may be obtained at the telegraph-offices at Auckland and Dunedin, and at the offices of the District Storekeeper, Christchurch, and the Controller of Stores, Wellington.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Tenders for Ferro-concrete Poles.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 6th December, 1910.

TENDERS will be received until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 11th January, 1911, for the supply and delivery of 1,015 ferro-concrete poles according to schedule, conditions, and specifications which may be seen at the telegraph-offices at Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin, and at the office of the Controller of Stores at Wellington.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Declaring the System of Rating for the Town of Rotorua.
—Notice No. 1457.

WHEREAS by the Rotorua Town Act, 1907, provision is made for the management of the Town of Rotorua by the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts, and the said Department is in respect of the said town created a body corporate :

And whereas by section five of the said Act it is enacted that for the purposes of any Act relating to local authorities the said Department shall in respect of the said town be deemed to be a local authority, and that the provision of any such Act shall (subject to such modifications or exceptions as the Governor by Order in Council directs) extend and apply as if the said town were a borough :

And whereas on the 11th day of April, 1908, His Excellency the Governor, in exercise of the powers conferred in that behalf by the Rotorua Town Act, 1907, did by Order in Council make certain regulations for the effectual carrying-out of such Act, which regulations appear in the New Zealand Gazette of the 16th day of April, 1908 :

And whereas by clause 3 of the said regulations it is provided that an order or direction in writing signed by the General Manager of the said Department shall be sufficient in all cases in which (amongst other things) a resolution of a Council is necessary in a borough :

Now, I, the undersigned, Frederick Sidney Pope, the General Manager of the said Department, in exercise of the powers given to local authorities by the Rating Act, 1908, and also in exercise of the powers and authorities given by the Rotorua Town Act, 1907, and the said regulations, do hereby order, direct, and declare that the system of rating on the capital value shall in future be in force in the Town of Rotorua, and that this order, direction, and declaration shall apply in respect of rates to be made and levied for the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1911.
