Small Grazing-runs in Otago Land District open for Lease.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned small grazing-runs are open for lease, and applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 9th day of January, 1911, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—TUAPEKA COUNTY.—BENGER AND LAMMERLAW SURVEY DISTRICTS.—SUBDIVISIONS OF PART OF ORMAGLADE STATION.

Run 200: About one-third is fairly good tussock country, parts of which could be ploughed. The remaining two-thirds is good undulating tussock hills. All open country, with patches of scrub and manuka in the creeks. Well watered. Altitude, 1,400 ft. to 3,200 ft. There is a road to the south-west corner of the run. The improvements comprise fencing on half north-western boundary with Teviot Station, 137 chains at 5s. per chain, £34 5s.; fencing on half boundary with Run 200D, 82 chains at 8s. per chain, £32 16s.; fencing on half boundary with Section 3, Block X, Benger District (netted), 7 chains at 16s. per chain, £5 12s.; subdivisional fencing (snow-line fence), 170 chains at 6s. per chain, £51; sheep-yards, £12: total, £135 13s.

Run 200A: All good open undulating hills covered with tussock. Parts could be ploughed. Well watered. Altitude, 1,400 ft. to 3,270 ft. The improvements comprise fencing on half eastern boundary with Run 200D, 78 chains at 8s. per chain, £31 4s.; fencing on half part of boundary with Run 200B (material only valued), 40 chains at 3s. 6d. per chain, £7: total, £38 4s.

Run 200B: Good open undulating tussock country, high and cold on north-eastern slopes. Well watered; ploughable in parts. Altitude, 1,450 ft. to 3,300 ft. The improvements comprise fencing on half boundary with Runs 200E and 200D, 50 chains at 8s. per chain, £20; fencing on half part of boundary with Run 200C, 64 chains at 7s. 6d. per chain, £24; fencing on half part of boundary with Run 200A, 40 chains at 3s. 6d. per chain, £7; fencing on south-west road-line boundary near Run 200C, 44 chains at 7s. 6d. per chain, £16 10s.; subdivisional fencing across run, 160 chains at 4s. per chain, £32; short subdivisional fencing near yards, 6 chains at 7s. 6d. per chain, £2 5s.; subdivisional fencing, hut paddock and from yards to Minzion Burn, 120 chains at 7s. 6d. per chain, £45; stone hut with iron roof, £20: total, £166 15s.

Run 200C: Mostly high, open tussock country, cold and rough on north-eastern slopes. Well watered. Altitude, 1,250 ft. to 4,000 ft. The improvements consist of fencing on half part of south-eastern boundary with Run 170, 136 chains at 3s. per chain, £20 8s.; fencing on half part of boundary with Run 200B, 64 chains at 7s. 6d. per chain, £24; fencing on road-line boundary between yards and corner of Section 3, Block XIII, Benger District, 14 chains at 7s. per chain, £4 18s.; fencing on half boundary with Section 9, Block XIII, Benger District, 52 chains at 12s. 6d. per chain, £32 10s.; subdivisional fencing through part of run, 80 chains at 4s. per chain, £16; subdivisional fencing near Section 9, Block XIII, Benger District, 10 chains at 7s. 6d. per chain, £3 15s.; subdivisional fencing, receiving-paddocks at yards, 26 chains at 7s. 6d. per chain, £9 15s.; sheep-yards, £20: total, £131 6s.

These runs are situated from four to ten miles from Miller’s Flat Post-office, which is about twenty-seven miles from the Town of Lawrence, and about eighteen miles from Edievale railway terminus.

In addition to improvements mentioned, there are certain fences between the small grazing-runs and freeholds, the approximate lengths and values of which are given below. In respect of these, the successful applicants will have to arrange with the owners in accordance with the provisions of the Fencing Act. Run 200, 148 chains, £115 14s.; Run 200A, 31 chains, £11 7s.; Run 200B, 83 chains, £46 7s. 6d.; Run 200C, 26 chains, £14 6s.

Run 237G is known locally as “McPhie’s Ridge.” All good sound tussock country. The eastern part around Mount Misery is unsafe in winter. The north-west slopes of McPhie’s Ridge are dry and rather bare. The run is well watered, has a good homestead site, and contains some land fit for ploughing if irrigated. Altitude, 1,150 ft. to 4,755 ft. The improvements consist of half fencing on south boundary with Run 237F, 470 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £129 5s.; yards and hut, and subdivision fencing, £15: total, £144 5s.

Run 237H is known locally as “George’s Hill.” Fairly good tussock country, the hills being well grassed all over. Has a good site for a homestead, is fairly safe from snow, and contains a little ploughable land. Well watered. Altitude, 1,150 ft. to 4,000 ft. The improvements consist of half fencing on boundary with Run 235C, 420 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £115 10s.

These runs are situated about eight miles from Tarras Post-office, which is twenty-two miles from the Town of Cromwell.

Lands for Disposal in Hawke’s Bay Land District.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 326 of the Land Act, 1908, that Sections 25 and 32, Mahia Rural Sections, containing about 254 acres, and Section 8, Whangawehi Rural Sections, containing about 35 acres, all situated in the Mahia Peninsula, Hawke’s Bay Land District, will be disposed of by way of exchange under section 142 of the Land Act, 1908, on or after Friday, the 24th day of February, 1911.
