Claims.—(1.) The combined memorandum and despatch form and envelope characterized by having a lower division adapted to receive the message and to be folded in on itself, an intermediate division adapted to have the folded lower division turned in against its front face, an upper division of approximately equal depth to the intermediate division adapted to receive the address and to have the other divisions folded in against its back face, and means whereby the ends of the whole of the folds when turned back may be secured, substantially as specified.

No. 27710.—6th May, 1910.—FRED BROWN, of Ponsonby Road, Auckland, New Zealand, Venetian-blind Manufacturer. An improved single-cord anti-friction venetian-blind head.*
Extract from Specification. —A sliding roller so set in the bearings that as it is turned or rolled round by the cords its spindle ends will slide either through one bearing or the other, and by a catch arrangement the centre cord will be caught and held at will.

Improved preparation to be employed in making electrolyte for primary batteries.
Claims.—(1.) A dry or solid preparation for making electrolyte for primary batteries, the said preparation being made by mixing together concentrated sulphuric acid, sodium bichromate (or potassium bichromate), and dry sodium sulphate, or dry sodium bisulphate, as explained. (2.) The manufacture of a dry or solid preparation for the aforesaid purpose by mixing the materials in or about the proportions given in each of the examples.

No. 27935.—21st June, 1910.—HENRY HAWKINS and SAMUEL HENRY HAWKINS, both of 25 Regina Road, Chelmsford, Essex, England, Engineers. Improvements in or relating to propellers.
Claims.—(1.) Propeller-blades for rotary propellers made in the form of a shallow cone, concave at the side acting upon the fluid, substantially as described. (2.) Mounting the conical propeller-blades claimed in claim 1 upon a drum or shaft in tilted position, with a strengthening rib on the back of the cone set behind the centre, substantially as described and shown. (3.) Apparatus employing two sets of oppositely tilted conical propeller-blades as claimed in claim 1, fixed at their edges to two concentric shafts turning in opposite directions, substantially as described with reference to Fig. 6.

No. 28004.—30th June, 1910.—FREDERICK GEORGE BROWNE, of Dandenong Road, Murrumbeena, Victoria, Australia, Leather-manufacturer. An improved compound for treating hides, skins, or leather.
Claims.—(1.) In a preparation for treating skins, hides, or leather, the employment therein of cut-up or pulverized old vulcanized rubber from which the sulphur has been extracted by aid of sodium sulphite, substantially as and in the manner described. (2.) An improved compound for treating skins, hides, or leather, consisting of old vulcanized rubber from which the sulphur has been extracted by means of sodium sulphite, and combined with stearine or paraffin wax and benzine or naphtha in varying proportions, and prepared substantially in the manner described.

No. 28058.—21st July, 1909.†—HORACE STANLEY MARKS, of 60 Clarendon Street, South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Machinery Merchant. Improvements in gear for regulating the feed and cut on chaff-cutting machines.
Extract from Specification. —It comprises a worm shaft having right- and left-hand threads. This shaft is geared to a fly-wheel shaft, from whence it derives its motion and drives the worm-wheel at the end of each feed-roll.

No. 28213.—20th November, 1909.†—WILLIAM DODSON LITTLE, of East Grinstead, Sussex, England, Chemical-manufacturer. Improved manufacture of a cleaning-fluid for use as a sheep-dip or for disinfecting or like purposes.
Claim. —In the manufacture of a cleansing-fluid for use as a sheep-dip, for disinfecting and for like purposes, consisting in dissolving in creosote oil a saponified fatty material, the use of castor-oil as the fatty material and of caustic soda as the alkali, whereby it becomes possible to obtain a transparent emulsifiable liquid containing as much as 80 per cent. of creosote oil.

No. 28304.—21st September, 1909.†—HENRY HOOKE, of Sydney, New South Wales, Mining Engineer. A continuous-discharge centrifugal separator or filter.
Claims.—(1.) The method of constructing a revolving-vessel by forming it with space between an outer and inner wall, substantially as described, and illustrated in my drawing. (2.) The combination with the said vessel of passages connected with the said space extending outward from the axis of the said vessel in the manner and for the purpose set forth. (3.) The combination with the said vessel of a sleeve or tubular shaft to which the said vessel is attached and operated as described. (4.) The combination with the said vessel and sleeve of a spindle rotating within the said sleeve as set forth, for the purpose specified.
